Educational Qualification: Matriculation or equivalent.
Requirement: Candidates must have valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License.
Age Limit: Between 23yrs to 28yrs as on 01-08-2013. Upper age relaxation for SC/ST—5yrs; OBC—3yrs; Ex-Serviceman and Others—As per norms.
Pay Scale: Rs.5200—20200 and Grade Pay: Rs.2000/- plus other allowances as per norms.
Physical Standards Test (PST) —
Height: 170cms (162.5cms for ST candidates)
Chest (Unexpanded/expanded): 80cms/ 85cms (76/ 81cms for ST candidates)
Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per Medical Standards
Vision: 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction in minimum distant vision.
Cut-off in Height and Chest for Hilly areas candidates belonging to the states of Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir AND Garhwalis, Kumaunis, Dogras, Marathas and Gorkhas is as per norms. See the Advt.
Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.
Selection Steps — The selection process shall consist of following stages:-
I) Documentation
II) Physical Standard Test ( PST)
III) Physical Efficiency Test ( PET)
IV) Written Test
V) Driving/ Technical test ( Trade Test)
VI) Final Medical Examination
VII) Review Medical Examination
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be consisting the following events –
1. One mile race to be completed in 6 ½ minutes
2. Long Jump 11 Feet in 03 chances
3. High Jump 3 Feet 6 Inches in 03 chances
Written Examination —
The candidates who qualify PST and PET will appear in written examination on OMR based Answer Sheets comprising multiple choice objective type question on following syllabus — (i) General English/ Hindi and (ii) General Knowledge.
Driving/ Technical Test (Trade Test)
The candidates qualify written examination (including Ex-Serviceman) will appear in Driving/ Technical Test (Trade Test) of 50 Marks. The Technical test will consist of the following —
a) Driving Test
b) Knowledge of Traffic rules and regulations.
c) Maintenance of Vehicles
Candidates who qualify Written Examination and Driving/Technical (Trade) Test will be put through detailed medical Examination strictly on the basis of merit of written examination as per the vacancies and average failure rate.
The vacancies/ posts are on temporary basis but likely to be permanent.
Application Fee: Candidates must pay Application Fee of Rs.50/- in form of Bank Draft drawn in favour — Accounts Officer, FTR HQ, SSB, Siliguri, (West Bengal) and payable at – SBI Siliguri, Code No.0184
No application fee required in case of SC/ST and Ex-Serviceman candidates.
How to Apply: Eligible candidates must apply on prescribed application format with two attested passport size photographs duly affixed on application form and admit card at the space provided for the purpose, along with application fee of Rs.50/-, attested copies of the testimonials in support of eligibility such as – Educational Certificate, Age proof (Matriculation certificate can be given), Driving License, Caste Certificate, Domicile Certificate for verification of citizenship issued by the revenue authority not below the rank of Tehsildar and Etc.
Two self-addressed envelopes of 4”x9” size with Rs.25/- postage stamps duly affixed should also be attached with the application form.
The application form containing envelope must be superscribed in block letters as — APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF CONSTABLE (DRIVER) IN SSB.
