State Bank of India is recruiting 8500 Nos. “Assistant” and 1000 Nos. “Stenographers”. This recruitment advertisement is actually modification of earlier released Advt.No. CRPD/CR/2011-12/05 dated 27.12.2011. Candidates who have applied before can opt to edit their previous submitted application form and can fill their choice of pre-exam training centre as well if wish can apply for the post of Stenographer. Details below—

Post: Assistant
Vacancies: 8500 Nos. (Gen-3145;  SC-2069; ST-1337; OBC-1949) out of them Disabled Ex-Serviceman- 270 Nos.; Ex-Serviceman-600 Nos. and PWD-180 Nos.
The above mentioned total vacancies are further breaks up into Circle/ State wise. Please visit the bank’s website for details. In West Bengal the vacancies were— 702 Nos. (Gen- 229; SC-105; ST-187; OBC- 181) out of the D-X-serviceman- 21; X-Serv- 46nos. and PWD-12nos.

Post: Stenographer (Hindi/ English)
Vacancies:  1000 Nos. (Hindi- 100 and English- 900)—(Gen-537; OBC-250; SC-134; ST-79) out of them Disable Ex-serviceman- 45nos; Ex-serviceman-100nos. and PWD- 30nos.
The above mentioned total vacancies are further breaks up into Circle/ State wise. Please visit the bank’s website for details. In West Bengal vacancies are—43 Nos. (Hindi-4; English-39) Gen-22; SC-10; ST-2; OBC-2 and D-X-Serv.- 2nos; X-Serv.-4 and PWD-3nos.

Required qualification: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary (Class-XII) with minimum 60% marks (56% marks for SC/ST/PWD and Ex.serv.) OR candidates who have done degree (graduation level) may apply.
Candidates who have knowledge of Stenography may apply for the post of Stenographer.

Age limit: Candidates should be between 18yrs to 28yrs as on 1/12/2012. Age relaxation—OBC-3yrs; SC/ST-5yrs; PWD- 10yrs and Others – as per govt. norms.

How to apply: Candidates can apply online from the official site of State Bank of India—  http://www.statebankofindia.com or www.sbi.co.in
Candidates should visit the bank’s website and fill the online application form. After filling the data candidates can opt to save the application form to make altercation later in their spare time. Doing so will generate Registration No. and Password. Candidates should memorize this and later through this password they can open their application form again and make changes. If candidates think that they have completed the form filling and do not need further changes then they can click the submit button and submit the form for final. After submitting the form; a computer generated Fee Challan will appear. Print-out the fee challan and deposit the application fee from any nearest branch of State Bank of India. Candidates can opt to pay fee through online system. If any candidates pay fee through online system then in their case Fee challan will not be generated after submission of form.
Candidates who have applied before as per previous application should deposit the additional fee. More information on bank’s site.
Application fee should be deposit after second working day of form registration and can be made within 3 working days. After depositing the fee candidates can, if wish, visit the bank’s website and reprint the submitted application form where the fee details will reflect.
During form submission candidates will require to upload their scan image of passport size photograph and signature.

Candidates will be selected through Written Test and Interview. The written test will be of Objective type on the following topics— (i) General Awareness (ii) General English (iii) Quantitative Aptitude (iv) Reasoning Ability (v) Marketing Aptitude / Computer Knowledge. The questions in objective tests, except for the test of General English, will be printed bilingual i.e., English & Hindi.
There will be negative marking for wrong answer.
Qualified candidates will be called for Interview. Candidates who have applied for Stenographer will be called for Skill Test.
Expected date of Written Test is 27th May and 3rd June (Sunday) and will hold at respective centres.
Call letters for written test will be available on bank’s website. Candidates can download it from there as well as download a Booklet “Acquaint Yourself” where they may find more details regarding their selection steps. No call letter will be sent by post.

Last Date: Online application form can be submitted till 26th March 2012 and Application fee can deposit till 31st March 2012.
