Public Service Commission, West Bengal (PSC WB) is inviting application from Indian Citizens for the posts of “Assistant Professor” in various subjects  for General Degree Colleges, B.Ed Colleges and for Physical Education Training Colleges/ Training Colleges. Total vacancies – 726 Nos. Advertisement No. 1/2014. Interested and eligible candidates may apply only on prescribed application format (See below). EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
For Assistant Professor (in Arts, Humanities, Science, Social Science, Commerce, Education, Languages, Law) for General Degree Colleges at sl. no. A: Master’s Degree with atleast 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a relevant subjects from an Indian University, or an equivalent Degree from an accredited foreign University.

For Assistant Professor for B. Ed. Colleges at sl. no. B (for Foundation Course): Master’s Degree in Science / Humanities / Arts / Commerce with 50% marks or an equivalent grade AND M.Ed with atleast 55% marks or an equivalent grade.
OR M.A. in Education with 55% marks or equivalent grade and B.Ed with atleast 55% marks or equivalent grade.
For Assistant Professor for B. Ed. Colleges at sl. no. B (for Methodology Course): Master’s Degree in relevant subject with 55% marks/ equivalent grade and M.Ed Degree with atleast 55% marks/ equivalent grade.

For Assistant Professor for the Government Physical Education Training Colleges / Training Colleges at sl. no. C): A Master’s  Degree in Physical Education with atleast 55% marks/ equivalent grade.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT (FOR ALL POSTS): National Eligibility Test (NET) / State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) / State Eligibility Test (SET) shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment of Assistant Professor.  Provided however that the candidates who are or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of National Eligibility Test (NET) / State Level Eligibility Test (SLET), State Eligibility Test (SET) for recruitment of Assistant Professor.
— National Eligibility Test (NET) / State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) / State Eligibility Test (SET) shall not be required for such Master’s Degree Programme in disciplines for which National Eligibility Test (NET) / State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) / State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited test is not conducted.

CUT-OFF IN MARKS: A relaxation of 5% marks may be provided at the Graduate and Master’s level for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.

AGE LIMIT: Not more than 37 years as on 01.01.2014.  Upper age relaxation for SC/ST – 5yrs; OBC- 3yrs; PWD- 10yrs; and Others – As per norms.
Upper age relaxation is applicable for candidates residing permanently in West Bengal only. SC/ST/OBC candidates from other States may apply as General/ Unreserved candidates.

PAY SCALE (FOR ALL POSTS): Rs.15600—39100 plus Grade Pay: Rs.6000/- per month plus other allowances as per norms.

Selection of the candidates may be through Interview but if the number of applicants applying for the post is in large, then commission may decide to conduct Screening Test/ Written Test. The scheme and syllabus of the Screening Test will be given in the Commission‟s website in due course.

APPLICATION FEE: Candidates must pay Application Fee of Rs.210/- only in form of crossed Indian Postal Order drawn in favour of — Secretary, Public Service Commission, West Bengal, OR  by a receipted Challan from a Govt. Treasury in West Bengal or the Reserve Bank of India, Kolkata under the head “0051-00-105-State PSC Examination fees-001-Examination fees-16 other fees”. The Postal Orders should be made payable at G.P.O., Kolkata.

Candidates belonging to S.C./S.T. of West Bengal and Persons with Disabilities are not required to pay any Application Fee. (Such candidates must enclose attested copy of Caste Certificate/ PWD certificate)

HOW TO APPLY: Interested and eligible candidates may apply on prescribed application format along with attested copies of all requisite certificates regarding (i) Madhyamik or equivalent certificate. (ii) S.C./S.T./O.B.C. (category ‟A‟ or „B‟)/Persons with Disability certificate issued by competent authority. (iii) Registration certificate for citizenship (if by registration) as required under item 9(b) of the application, (iv) Mark-sheet and certificate for each examination passed, (v) Experience certificate, (vi) and any other requisite documents (if any).
The Application form must be also enclosed with Two self-addressed unstamped envelopes and one self-addressed post card. 
The copies of the testimonials/ documents submitted with the Application form must be either Self Certified or attested by competent authority.
Candidates who wish to apply for more than one category of posts should submit separate Application along with requisite fees for each
Do not submit more than one application for the same post.
