Directorate of Health Services, Nursing Branch, Kolkata-91, is recruiting (Second Phase) 1652 Nos. “Staff Nurse, Grade-II” for Health Institutions of the Govt. of West Bengal. Candidates who have done GNM Course and is registered in Nursing Council were eligible to apply. Application is to be made on prescribed application format. Educational norms and criteria in brief is given below—
1. Staff Nurse, Grade-II: 1652 Nos. (Gen—528; SC—300; ST—506; OBC-A—227; OBC-B—91). Out of total vacancies 37nos. is reserved for PH candidates, if available.
Qualification Required: Candidates with General Nursing and Midwifery course from Nursing Training Schools recognised by Indian Nursing Council and West Bengal Nursing Council were eligible to apply.
Candidates must be registered under the West Bengal Nursing Council.
The candidates should be permanent resident of West Bengal and should be able to read, write and speak in Bengali or in Nepali (for those residing in hill areas of Darjeeling district)
Age limits: Candidates must be between 18yrs to 35yrs as on 01/01/2012. Upper age relaxation is as per rules.
Pay scale: Rs.7100—37600 and Grade pay: Rs.3600 plus other allowances.

Enclosures along with the application form (in Attested copies done by Gazetted Officer or Head of the Institution concerned)—
- Age proof documents (Birth-certificate or Madhyamik pass certificate or equivalent)
- Marksheets of Higher Secondary or equivalent examination
- All marksheets of GNM examination
- One passport size photograph affixed on the form with self-signature on it.
- Residential Proof (Voter ID card or equivalent)
- Registration certificate of West Bengal Nursing Council.
Selection Steps: Merit list will be prepared on basis of percentage of marks of the candidates obtained in Higher Secondary Exams and percentage of marks in the GNM examination.

The empanelled candidates will be called in batches for checking the original copies of the supplied documents in due course. The successful candidates will have to appear before Medical Board and their appointment is subject to clearance through police verification.
