Stenographer (Grade C & D) through SSC’s All India Open Competitive Examination. Last Dt. 25/5/2012.

Staff Selection Commission is going to hold an All India Open Competitive Examination  for filling the vacant posts of – “Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’. Higher Secondary candidates may apply but should have knowledge of Stenography. Candidates without knowledge  of Stenography needs not to apply. Candidates may apply Online or Offline (by post). Brief details given below—

1. Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and Grade ‘D’
No. of vacancies: Firm number of vacancies will be determined by SSC in due course.

Qualification/ Eligibility: Higher Secondary Pass (Class 10+2) and should have done course on Stenography. Ability of 100 words per minute and 80 w.p.m. respectively is required in Stenography.

Pay band: SSC will hold All India Open Competitive Examination for the post of Stenographer Grade—C (Group ‘B’ Non Gazetted) in Pay Band 2 plus Grade pay as admissible and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’ Non-Technical) in Pay Band 1 plus Grade pay as admissible.

Age limit: between 18yrs to 27yrs as on 1/8/2012. Age relaxation—OBC-3yrs; SC/ST-5yrs, PWD- 10yrs and rest of others—as per govt. norms (Please refer the official website of SSC for details).

Candidates Selection Steps: Candidates will be selected through Written Test and Skill Test. Written Test will be of Objective types. On basis of performance in the Written Examination candidates will be called for Skill Test. Skill Test will be Stenographer test.
Written Examination will hold on Sunday 29/7/2012 and will be of Objective type on following topics—(i) General Intelligence & Reasoning ( 50 questions of 50 marks ), (ii) General Awareness ( 50 questions of 50 marks) and (iii) English Language and Comprehension ( 100 questions of 100 marks). Duration – 2 hours and will started at 10 AM and end at 12 Noon.
The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’. The matter has to be typed on Computer.
Candidates should mention the medium of Stenography test in the Application form. If candidates do not mention the medium then “English” will be taken by default.

Candidates should clearly mention their examination centre. For Eastern Region (along W.B), examination centre will be at— Kolkata (4410), Midnapur(4413), Port Blair(4802), Sambalpur(4609), Gangtok(4001), Jalpaiguri(4408), Bhubaneshwar(4604), Cuttack(4605) and Ranchi(4205). Application Fee: Rs.100 is to be paid as Application fee. Candidate who wishes to apply Offline, i.e. by post, have to pay the prescribed fee in form of Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS) only. Fee Stamp should be pasted on the space provided in the application form and then should be get it cancelled from the clerk of that post- office.
Candidates who opt to apply Online should pay the prescribed fee by Fee Payment Challan through any branch of State Bank of India or through net banking.
Fee is exempted for SC/ST/ PWD/ Women candidates and Ex-Serviceman who falls under reservation.

How To Apply: Application can be made either Online or Offline. For convenience and advantage, candidates are encourage to submit Online application.
Candidates opting for Offline application form are required to prepare the Application form as per prescribed format and then along with attested copies of documents and testimonials is required to send at the respective Regional address. Online application is to be made in two parts, Part-I and Part-II. Candidates should first complete the Part-I registration and then proceed to Part-II registration. After successful Part-I registration, a computer generated page with Registration No. and Fee Challan will appear. Candidates should make print-out of the both.
Now after depositing the fee, proceed for Part-II registration by mentioning your generated registration No. which appeared during Part-I registration. Candidates willing to pay fee through Net banking can continue the Part-II registration right after completing Part-I registration. Candidates who were exempted from fee payment can go for Part-II registration directly after Part-I
Candidates making Online registration do not require to send any documents by post to SSC’s regional offices.

For Candidates applying Offline, i.e. by post—Application form along with documents should reach the respective addresses of their Regional Offices within 25th May 2012 (1st June 2012 for far flung candidates).
