Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata (West Bengal), is recruiting 58 candidates as “Stipendiary Trainees” in Category I & Category II in different discipline mentioned below. Eligible and Interested candidates may apply on prescribed application format on or before 15-04-2013. Qualification norms and eligibility criteria in brief is given below —
CATEGORY – I. Total Vacancies—14 Nos.
Discipline wise vacancies and qualification required—
1. Physics: 9 Nos. (Gen—4; SC—3; ST–5yrs ; OBC–3yrs )
Qualification : B.Sc with minimum 60% marks (Physics and Mathematics subject is must along with any one of the following subject – Chemistry, Statistics, Electronics, Computer Science.
2. Mechanical: 1 Nos. (OBC)
Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with min 60% marks of 3yrs duration after SSC or 2yrs duration after HS)
3. Electronics/ Instrumentation: 2 Nos. (Gen)
Qualification: Diploma in Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering with min 60% marks of 3yrs duration after SSC or 2yrs duration after HS)
4. Computer: 1 Nos. (OBC)
Qualification: Diploma in Computer Engineering with min 60% marks of 3yrs duration after SSC or 2yrs duration after HS)
5. Civil: 1 Nos. (Gen)
Qualification: Diploma in Civil Engineering with min 60% marks of 3yrs duration after SSC or 2yrs duration after HS)
CATEGORY – II. Total No. of vacancies—44 Nos.
Discipline wise Vacancies—
1. Plant Operator: 5 Nos. (Gen—1; OBC—2; SC—1; ST—1)
Qualification: HS (10+2) in Science stream with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. Should have studied the subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
2. Library: 1 Nos. (OBC)
Qualification: 10+2 in Science stream with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. Should have studied the subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Certificate course in Library Science and experience in Library is preferred.
3. Engineering Draughting: 1 Nos. (OBC)
4. Fitter: 10 Nos. (Gen—6; OBC–3yrs; SC—3)
5. Electronics: 15 Nos. (Gen—3; OBC—4; SC—5; ST—3)
6. Electrical: 3 Nos. (Gen)
7. Turner: 2 Nos. (Gen—1; OBC–3yrs)
8. Air Conditioning: 3 Nos. (Gen)
9. Machinist: 3 Nos. (Gen—2; OBC–3yrs)
10. Mechanic (Motor Vehicle): 1 Nos. (Gen)
Qualification Required (from Sl.No.3 to 10 under Category-II): SSC with minimum 60% marks in aggregate and Trade certificate of minimum 1yr duration course in relevant trade.
Age Limits: Candidates must be between 19yr to 24yrs for vacancies under Category-I and between 18yrs to 22yrs for vacancies under Category-II. Age will be counted as on 15/04/2013. Upper age relaxation for OBC–3yrs; SC/ST–5yrs and PH—10yrs. Other categories—as per norms.
Stipend During Training period of 2 years:
Category I : (i) Rs.9,300/- p.m. for 1st year and yet to be finalized for 2nd year.
Category II : (i) Rs.6,200/- p.m. for 1st year and Rs.7,200/- p.m. for 2nd year
Upon successful completion of training, the Cat.I trainees will be considered for absorption in the post of Scientific Assistant/C and Cat.II trainees will be considered for absorption in the post of Technician/B or Technician/C depending on their performance during the period of training and personal interview to be held at the end of the training.

SSC means “Secondary School Certificate” i.e. Class 10 or Matriculation (Madhyamik)
Wheras HSC means “Higher Secondary Certificate” i.e. Class-12 or H.S (Uccha Madhyamik)
