A new initiative called ‘Beggar Free City’ has been launched in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Which is going to be a joint initiative of the Nagpur City Police and the Social Welfare Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).
Nagpur City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said that a notice under 144 CrPC has already been issued in this regard. This news has already been given notice to the general public. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar told reporters that they will strictly enforce this and no begging will be allowed in public places.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has already made special arrangements to accommodate homeless people in their constructed shelters. The civic body has also arranged a bus and an ambulance to shift beggars caught in police raids to shelters.
