New Chairperson of CERC

• CERC stands for Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC).
• The newly appointed chairperson of the CERC’s statutory body is IAS Jishnu Barua.
• IAS Jishnu Barua previously served as Chief Secretary of Assam.
• The primary role of CERC is to rationalization of electricity tariffs, transparent policies regarding subsidies, promotion of efficient and environmentally benign policies, and for matters connected to Electricity Tariff regulation.
