Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is inviting application from the eligible candidates for 15 posts of Junior Research Fellow (JRF), Senior Research Fellow (SRF), Junior Technical Assistant, GIS Analyst, Senior Project Fellow, Project Associate and Project Fellow. The candidates will be appointed on Contract basis for a period of One/ Two/ Three years under different projects mentioned below. WILDLIFE INSTITUTE OF INDIA (WII) INVITES ONLINE APPLICATION FOR 15 POSTS OF JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF), SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (SRF), JUNIOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANT, GIS ANALYST, SENIOR PROJECT FELLOW, PROJECT ASSOCIATE AND PROJECT FELLOW. LAST DATE — 23/09/2018

 

1. JUNIOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANT
No. of Vacancies: 01 Nos.
Name of Project: Atlas of colonial nesting waterbirds in the east coast states of India.
Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university.
Desirable: Good command over written and spoken English.
Age Limit: Maximum 26 years.
Consolidated Pay: Rs. 16000/- per month.

 

2. JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF)/ SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (SRF)
No. of Vacancies: 01 Nos.
Name of Project: Wild Tigers of Similipal: A study on spatial distribution abundance and population genetics.
Educational Qualification: M.Sc. in Wildlife Science, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Life Science and other biological sciences with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university.
Experience: Two years research experience for the post of SRF only.
Desirable: Preference will be given to candidate with prior experience of working on the subject.
Age Limit: Maximum 28 years for JRF and Maximum 32 years for SRF.
Consolidated Pay: Rs. 25,000/- (for JRF) & Rs. 28,000/- (for SRF) per month.

 

3. JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF)
No. of Vacancies: 01 Nos.
Name of Project: Understanding the Amur falcon Falco amurensis, their stopover sites in Nagaland and their migratory routes for better conservation planning.
Educational Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/ Zoology/ Botany/ Life Science/ Biological Sciences/ Environmental Sciences with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university.
Age Limit: Maximum 28 years.
Consolidated Pay: Rs. 25,000/- per month.

 

4. JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF)
No. of Vacancies: 01 Nos.
Name of Project: Dissemination and evaluation of technologies through networking of various institutes and organization of mountain ecosystem (DST sponsored project).
Educational Qualification: M.Sc in Wildlife Sciences/ Zoology/ Life Sciences/ Forestry/ Environmental Management/ Social Science or any other subject related to biodiversity and conservation with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university.
Desirable: i) Minimum one year research experience preferably in conducting socio-economic and research monitoring work.
ii) Proficiency in using computers and good writing skill in English language.
iii) UGC/CSIR NET JRF qualified.
Age Limit: Maximum 28 years.
Consolidated Pay: Rs. 25,000/- per month.

 

5. SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (SRF)

6. PROJECT ASSOCIATE/ SENIOR PROJECT FELLOW
No. of Vacancies: 01 Nos.
Name of Project: Human-wildlife conflict resolution mechanism in the Indian Himalayan Region: Risk assessment, Prediction, and Management through Research and Community engagement (NMHSHWC Project)
Educational Qualification:
For Project Associate: Ph.D. in Wildlife Science/ Zoology/ Environmental Science or Management or related subject.
Candidates who have submitted thesis and awaiting results are eligible.
OR
For Senior Project Fellow: Post Graduate Degree with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university in the above subjects with two years research experience.
Age Limit: Maximum 45 years and Maximum 35 years for Senior Project Fellow.
Consolidated Pay: Rs. 40,000/- (Rs.18,000/- or Rs 25,000 for NET/GATE qualified candidates for SPF) per month.

 

7. PROJECT FELLOW
No. of Vacancies: 01 Nos.
Name of Project: Human-wildlife conflict resolution mechanism in the Indian Himalayan Region: Risk assessment, Prediction, and Management through Research and Community engagement (NMHSHWC Project)

8. JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF)/ SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (SRF)

Name of Project: Monitoring reintroduced Gaur (Bos gaurus gaurus) in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh Phase II.
Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Environmental Science/ Life Sciences/ Natural resource management with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university.
Experience: Two years research experience for the post of SRF only.
Age Limit: Maximum 28 years for JRF and Maximum 32 years for SRF.
Consolidated Pay: Rs. 25,000/- (for JRF) & Rs. 28,000/- (for SRF) per month.

 

9. JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF)

Name of Project: Ecological impact assessment of existing and proposed road infrastructure in important wildlife corridors in India for strategic planning of smart green infrastructure.
Educational Qualification: Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Environmental Science/ Life Sciences/ Natural resource management with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university.
Age Limit: Maximum 28 years.
Consolidated Pay: Rs. 25,000/- per month.

 

10. GIS ANALYST
No. of Vacancies: 01 Nos.
Name of Project: Assessment of impacts of the proposed NagpurMumbai Super Communication Expressway, Maharashtra, Samriddhi Corridor on wildlife values and measures recommended to mitigate negative impacts.
Educational Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Geoinformatics/ Geography/ Geology/ Computer Applications or related fields with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university.
Experience: At least two years’ experience.
Age Limit: Maximum 40 years.
Consolidated Pay: Rs. 40,000/- per month.

 

11. PROJECT FELLOW- ECOLOGY/ GENETICS
No. of Vacancies: 03 Nos.
Name of Project: Assessment of impacts of the proposed NagpurMumbai Super Communication Expressway, Maharashtra, Samriddhi Corridor on wildlife values and measures recommended to mitigate negative impacts.
Educational Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Wildlife Science/ Botany/ Zoology/ Forestry/ Life Science/ Agriculture/ Environmental Sciences/ Genetics / Biotechnology/ Molecular Biology/ Bio-chemistry with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university.
Desirable: i) Candidates with prior experience in sampling design and animal abundance estimation are preferred.
ii) Prior experience of ecological and molecular work with non-invasive samples is desirable.
iii) Knowledge of GIS, GPS, and Remote Sensing is desirable.
Age Limit: Maximum 30 years.
Consolidated Pay: Rs. 25,000/- per month.

 

12. PROJECT FELLOW- RS/ GIS
No. of Vacancies: 01 Nos.
Name of Project: Assessment of impacts of the proposed NagpurMumbai Super Communication Expressway, Maharashtra, Samriddhi Corridor on wildlife values and measures recommended to mitigate negative impacts.
Educational Qualification: Masters’ Degree in Geoinformatics/ Geography/ Geology/ Computer Applications or related fields with a minimum 60% aggregated marks and above from a recognized university.

Consolidated Pay: Rs. 25,000/- per month.

 

The candidates will be appointed on Contract basis for a period of One/ Two/ Three three years under different projects.

 

Upper Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ ST/ OBC/ Women/ PWD category.

 

Candidates’ Selection: Selection of candidates will be through Qualifying Test and Interview. Test will be held at the following centres namely New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Bhopal, Guwahati, Dehradun.
