CIVIL JUDGE
No. of Vacancies: 320 Nos. (GT-99, BC-96, MBC/DC-65, SC-56, ST-04)
Educational Qualification:
I) For Practicing Advocates/ Pleaders and Assistant Public Prosecutors:
(i) Must possess a Degree in Law of a recognized University, or any other equivalent qualification and enrolled in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu or in the Bar Council of any other State in India AND must be practising as an Advocate or Pleader in any Court for a period of not less than three years OR must be an Assistant Public Prosecutor having not less than three years of experience as an Advocate and / or Assistant Public Prosecutor.
II) For Fresh Law Graduates:
(i) Bachelor’s Degree in Law with 50% marks (45% marks for Reserved Categories) from a recognized University.
(ii) Must be eligible to be enrolled as an advocate.
Candidate must have obtained the Bachelor’s Degree of Law within a period of three years prior to 09/04/2018.
Note:
Candidates who have enrolled as Advocates, but do not possess three years of practice at the Bar would be eligible for the post of Civil Judge, under Fresh Law Graduates category.
Essential: Candidates must have proficiency in Tamil to read, write and speak for the above posts.
Age Limit: Minimum 25 years and maximum 35 years for Practicing Advocates/ Pleaders and Assistant Public Prosecutors. Minimum 22 years and maximum 27 years for Fresh Law Graduates as on 01.07.2018.
Pay Scale: Rs. 27,700-44,770/-
Upper Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST, 03 years for OBC and 10 years for PWD category. Ex-Serviceman & Others, if any — As per Govt. norms.
Candidates’ Selection: The selection of candidates will be through Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Viva–Voce Test. The Preliminary Examination will be held at the following centers namely, Chennai, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Salem, Thanjavur, Vellore and Villupuram on 09.06.2018. Main Examination will be held on 11.08.2018 and 12.08.2018 at Chennai only.

Examination Fee: Candidates must pay Rs.500/- as Examination Fee and Rs.150/- as Registration Fee. Fee can be paid through Online mode during submission of online application form by using Debit/Credit card or Net banking OR can be paid through Bank by means of fee payment Challan. NO EXAMINATION FEE REQUIRED IN CASE OF SC, ST, MBC/DC, BC/OBCM, PWD AND EX-SERVICEMEN CANDIDATES.
Note: Candidates who have already registered in One Time Online Registration system and are within the validity period of five years are exempted from payment of registration fee.

Upon successful payment of prescribed fee and submission of online application form, the system generated Registration/ Acknowledgement Slip with unique registration number will appear on the computer screen. Candidates must print-out it for future correspondence. DO NOT SEND ANY PRINT-OUT/HARD COPY OR DOCUMENTS TO ANYWHERE AT THIS STAGE. All the verification will be done in due course.
