Indian Coast Guard, Ministry of Defence, is recruiting some hundreds of candidates as “Yantrik”. The application can be submitted online. Matriculation boys who have done 3 years Diploma course in Mechanical Engineering may apply for the post. Details below—

Post: Yantrik

Qualification required: Matriculation (Class-X) pass and may have done 3 years Diploma course in Mechanical Engineering from AICTE recognised Institute with 55% marks in aggregate.
Candidates who will appear or appearing final year examination of 3yrs Diploma course in Engineering may also apply but such candidates will have to produce their diploma certificate/ final mark sheet by 30th may 2012.

Salary: Rs.5200—Rs.20200 and Grade pay of Rs.2400
Age limit: Candidates should be born between 1/8/1990 to 31/7/1994. Age relaxation—OBC-3yrs, SC/ST-5yrs.

Physical Standards: Minimum height 157 cms. (May be reduced by 5cms in the case of Assamese including those from Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Garhwal, Sikkim, local tribals of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and by 2 cms in case of candidates from Lakshadweep, mainland settlers in (Andaman & Nicobar).
Chest: Chest should be well proportioned and should have ability to expand it by 5 cms.
Weight: Proportional to age and height as per medical standard.
Eye Sight: 6/12 with Good eye and 6/24 with Bad eye.
Candidates should be physically fit and free from any disease/disability, likely to interfere with efficient performance of duties.

Selection steps: Candidates will be selected through Written Test, Physical Fitness Test, Interview and Medical Examination.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT) will be of—1.6 Km run within 6minutes 30 seconds, 20 squat ups and 10 Push ups. Physical Fitness Test will be after Written Test. The result of Written Test will be declared on the same day.
Successful candidates from above two tests will go through Interview and Medical Examination. The process may take 2/3 days. Candidates should prepare to stay 2/3 days at the test centres under own arrangement.
Examination/Test centres will be at—
For Northern Zone—Noida
For North Western Zone—Gandhi Nagar
For Western Zone—Mumbai, Kochi, New Mangalore.
For Eastern Zone—Chennai, Visakhapatnam.
For North Eastern Zone—Kolkata (West Bengal), Paradip (Orissa).

How to apply: Application form can be submitted online from the official website of Indian Coast Guard—http://www.joincoastguard.org or http://www.indiancoastguard.nic.in
After submitting the online application form; computer generated Registration form will appear with unique registration No. along with details and date/venue of the examination centres. Candidates should make print-out copy of the computer generated form. There is no need to send any documents by post.
Both copies of the print out of application duly signed with photograph to be carried by the applicant to the testing centre. Out of the two copies, one copy shall be enclosed with class 10th certificate/mark sheet showing date of birth, Diploma certificate and mark sheets duly attested by the Gazetted Officer shall be carried by the candidate for handing over at the testing centre. Any candidate who does not carry all these documents at the time of test shall not be permitted to appear in the exam. Two recent passport size photographs to be affixed on the print-out registration form and one to be attested by the Gazetted Officer.

Candidates should bring all the necessary documents in original and attested copies. Lists of documents—

  • Two copies of ‘online application’ with the member generated on the form.
  • Original certificate of tenth class for date of birth verification.
  • Original certificate of Diploma (three years)
  • Proof of identity such as passport, driving license, voter I card, college ID card or any other photo identity proof.
  • Caste Certificate for SC/ST and OBC candidates.
  • Two recent colour passport size photographs.
  • Sports and NCC certificates, if any.

Last date to apply: Online application can be filled by last 15th March 2012.
