Public Service Commission, West Bengal (PSCWB) is going to hold West Bengal Legal Service Examination – 2013 for recruitment to the posts in West Bengal Legal Service. The Written Examination will be held in Kolkata in December, 2013. Interested and eligible candidates may apply on prescribed application format within below scheduled date. WEST BENGAL LEGAL SERVICE EXAMINATION, 2013
Number of Vacancies: 50 Nos. (General—23; SC—10; ST—06; BC-A—5; BC-B—3; PH-LV/HI— 2)
Educational Qualification: Degree in Law from a recognized University
Essential: Candidates must have ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (Not required in the case of Nepali speaking candidates of the three Hill Sub-divisions of Darjeeling District, viz., Darjeeling Sadar, Kalimpong and Kurseong ).
Age: Minimum 23 years and maximum 35 years as on 01-01-2013. Upper age relaxation for SC/ST – 5yrs; OBC- 3yrs; PWD- 10yrs; and Others – As per norms. Age relaxation is applicable only for reserved candidates residing permanently in State West Bengal.
SC, ST and BC candidates of other States may apply for unreserved vacancies as General candidates.
Pay Scale: Rs.15600—42000 with Grade Pay: Rs.5400/- per month plus other allowances as per norms.
Candidates’ Selection:
Selection of the candidates will be done through West Bengal Legal Service Examination—2013 which will be in two successive parts — (i) Written Examination (Part – I) and (ii) Personality Test (Part – II).
The Written Examination will be held in Kolkata centre only in December, 2013. The Personality Test of the candidates to be selected on the results of the written examination will be held at the Commission’s office in Kolkata.

Application Fee: Candidates willing to apply for the examination must pay Application Fee of Rs.210/- only by Indian Postal Order (IPO) which must be crossed and endorsed to the — Secretary, Public Service Commission, West Bengal and write – payable at G.P.O., Kolkata
OR Application Fee can be paid by a receipted challan from a Govt. Treasury in West Bengal of the Reserve Bank of India, Kolkata under the head “0051-00-105-State PSC Examination fees-001-Examination fees-16 other fees”.
Money Order, Cheque, Bank Draft, Cash etc. will not be accepted.
SC/ST and PH candidates of West Bengal only are not required to pay any Application Fee. SC/ST/PH candidates of other State may apply as General candidates and must pay above prescribed fee.

The Application form must be enclosed with attested copies (Self-signed or Attestation by Gazetted Officer) of testimonials in support of eligibility, such as —
- Educational Qualification certificates
- Age proof certificate (Madhyamik pass certificate can be given for verification)
- Caste Certificate/ PH certificate in case of SC/ST/BC and PH candidates
- Prescribed Application Fee in form of IPO or Treasury Challan
- One copy of self-signed passport size photo pasted on the Application form.
- Two Self-Addressed envelope (without any postal stamp) with the Application form
