United Nations recently held a vote on the war in Ukraine

• Recently, the United Nations held a vote on a resolution on peace in Ukraine. The proposal called for Russia to withdraw its troops from Ukraine.
• 141 of the 193 members of the United Nations voted in favor of this resolution.
• But India and China abstained from this vote.

• সম্প্রতি জাতিসংঘ ইউক্রেনের শান্তির বিষয়ে একটি প্রস্তাব এ ভোটাভুটি র ব্যবস্থা করে। সেই প্রস্তাবে বলা হয় রাশিয়া যেন ইউক্রেন থেকে সেনাবাহিনী প্রত্যাহার করে নেয়।
• এই প্রস্তাবের স্বপক্ষে জাতিসংঘের 193 টি সদস্যের মধ্যে 141 টি সদস্য পক্ষে মত দান করে।
• কিন্তু ভারত এবং চায়না এই ভোটাভুটি থেকে নিজেকে বিরত রেখেছে।

New World Bank President

• Recently, David Malpass resigned as the president of the World Bank due to the climate controversy.
• After the resignation of David Malpass, US President Joe Biden nominated former Master Card CEO Ajay Banga to be appointed as the new president.
• Ajay Banga is currently serving as the Vice Chairman of General Atlantic.
• Ajay is the first person of Indian origin to be nominated for this post.
