Educational Qualification

Flying Branch (AFCAT & NCC Special Entry)

Mandatory: Physics & Mathematics at 10+2 level.

Plus any one of the following:

  • Graduation (minimum 3-year degree course) in any discipline from a recognized University.
  • BE/B.Tech (4-year course) from a recognized University.
  • Sections A & B of AMIE or Aeronautical Society of India.

Ground Duty (Technical) Branch – Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) [AE(L)]

  • Mandatory: Physics & Mathematics at 10+2 level.
  • Plus: BE/B.Tech (4 years) or Integrated PG in Engineering/Technology in relevant disciplines including Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical, Information Technology, Instrumentation, etc. (83 disciplines listed in notification).

Ground Duty (Technical) Branch – Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) [AE(M)]

  • Mandatory: Physics & Mathematics at 10+2 level.
  • Plus: BE/B.Tech (4 years) or Integrated PG in Engineering/Technology in relevant disciplines including Aeronautical, Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, etc. (39 disciplines listed in notification).

How to Apply online

The application form for the AFCAT 02/2026 Session is available on the official website of the Indian Air Force. Interested candidates can check the steps to apply for the exam below:

Step 1: Visit the official website at afcat.edcil.co.in.

Step 2: Click on the “AFCAT 02/2026 Registration” link available on the homepage.

Step 3: Complete New Registration by entering full name (as per 10th certificate), mobile number, and email ID. Generate OTP to verify.

Step 4: After successful registration, you will receive Application Sequence No. (User ID) & Password on email and mobile.

Step 5: Log in using the User ID and Password. Change the default password if required.

Step 6: Fill out the complete application form, including:

  • Personal Details (Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Marital Status)
  • Communication Details (Permanent & Correspondence Address)
  • Qualification Details (10+2, Graduation, Post-Graduation as applicable)

The selection process consists of the following stages:

  1. Written Exam (AFCAT) – For AFCAT entry. Objective type covering General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and Military Aptitude.
  2. GATE Score – For Ground Duty (Technical) GATE entry.
  3. NCC ‘C’ Certificate – For NCC Special Entry (Flying branch).
  4. Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview – Including Psychological, Group Tests, and Personal Interview (5 days).
  5. Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) – For Flying branch candidates only.
  6. Medical Examination – As per IAF medical standards.
  7. Merit List – Final selection based on combined performance.
