The Assam State Biodiversity Board (ASBB) has announced an engaging one-month Internship Programme aimed at updating the Gaon Panchayat People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBR) across Assam. This initiative offers a unique hands-on opportunity for graduate and postgraduate students specializing in Botany, Zoology, Ecology, and Wildlife Sciences to contribute to meaningful biodiversity documentation while aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 mandate for experiential learning.

Program Overview
This internship is designed to bridge academic knowledge with grassroots biodiversity management. Selected interns will assist in updating PBRs comprehensive databases of local biological resources and traditional knowledge ensuring they meet the quality standards of the National Biodiversity Authority’s PBR Quality Evaluation Framework.
- Objective: To involve students in the practical documentation and digital updating of biodiversity registers, enhancing data accuracy and utility for conservation and policy planning.
- Duration: One (1) month.
- Stipend: ₹5,000 upon successful completion.
- Intake: 60 positions across Assam.
Eligibility Criteria
. Academic Qualification: Students pursuing graduation or post-graduation in Botany, Zoology, Ecology, Wildlife Sciences, or allied subjects from Assam-based colleges/universities.
. Age Limit: 18–23 years.
. Domicile: Must be a bonafide resident of Assam.
. Skills Preferred: Knowledge of local flora and fauna, proficiency in English and Assamese, field survey experience, and familiarity with MS Office tools.
Scope of Work
Interns will undertake a structured two-day online training followed by fieldwork in a chosen Gaon Panchayat. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting meetings with BMC members to collect and verify ecological data.
- Updating PBRs in prescribed digital formats and testing the Assam PBR Mobile App.
- Ensuring compliance with national and state biodiversity guidelines.
- Supporting the integration of PBR data into the state’s digital database hosted by AMTRON.
Application Procedure
Interested candidates must apply through their institution. Each college/university can nominate up to 15 students along with an appointed Internship Supervisor.
