CTET September 2026 Eligibility
The minimum qualifications for appearing in CTET are as notified by NCTE. Candidates are advised to visit the NCTE website (https://ncte.gov.in) to ascertain their eligibility. Relaxation up to 5% in qualifying marks in minimum educational qualification is allowed for SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled candidates.
Minimum Educational Qualifications for Classes I-V (Primary Stage):
Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of:
- Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed); OR
- Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed); OR
- Diploma in Education (Special Education); OR
- 4-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or equivalent
Minimum Educational Qualifications for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage):
Candidates must have:
- Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed); OR
- Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed); OR
- Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed (as per NCTE norms); OR

CTET September 2026 Application Form
The online application process for CTET September 2026 is available on the official website ctet.nic.in from 11th May 2026 onwards. Candidates must keep their scanned photograph (10-100 KB, 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, JPG/JPEG) and signature (3-30 KB, 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm, JPG/JPEG) ready before applying.
Steps to Apply Online:
- STEP 1: Log on to CTET official website ctet.nic.in or CBSE website www.cbse.gov.in
- STEP 2: Go to the link “Apply Online” and open the same
- STEP 3: Fill in the Online Application Form (Authentication Form → Personal Details → Languages → Qualification)
- STEP 4: Note down the Registration Number/Application Number generated
- STEP 5: Upload scanned Photograph and Signature
- STEP 6: Pay Examination Fee (Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking)
- STEP 7: Print Confirmation Page for record and future reference
Note: Candidates are NOT required to send the hard copy of the Confirmation Page to CTET Unit. However, candidates must retain the hard copy for future reference. If a candidate submits more than one online application, his/her candidature shall be liable to be cancelled.
Application Fee
Candidates have to pay the examination fee through online mode only (Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking). GST as applicable will be charged extra by the Bank. Fee once remitted shall not be refunded or adjusted for future tests under any circumstances.

CTET September 2026 – Qualifying Marks and Certificate
As per NCTE norms, a person who scores 60% or more (90 marks out of 150) in the CTET exam will be considered as CTET pass.
- School managements may give concessions to SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled persons in accordance with their extant reservation policy.
- Qualifying CTET does not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment – it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.
Validity Period of CTET Certificate: The CTET qualifying certificate is valid for life time forall categories. There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a CTET Certificate. A person who has qualified CTET may also appear again for improving his/her score.
Applicability of CTET:
- CTET shall apply to schools of the Central Government (KVS, NVS, Central Tibetan Schools, etc.) and schools under the administrative control of UTs of Chandigarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and NCT of Delhi.
- CTET may also apply to unaided private schools who may exercise the option of considering CTET.
- According to CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws, it is mandatory for teachers appointed after 6th March 2012 to teach Classes I-VIII in CBSE affiliated schools to qualify/pass CTET or State TET.
