Central Railway Apprentice Selection Process 2026
The selection will be based on a merit list prepared by the Railway Recruitment Cell, Central Railway.
Merit List Preparation
The merit list will be prepared using the following two components:
- Percentage of marks obtained in Class 10th.
- Percentage of marks obtained in ITI in the relevant trade.
The final merit score will be calculated by taking the simple average of the Class 10th percentage and ITI percentage.
Merit Calculation Formula:
Final Merit Percentage = (Class 10th Percentage + ITI Percentage) ÷ 2
Example:
If a candidate obtains 80% in Class 10th and 90% in ITI, the final merit percentage will be:
(80 + 90) ÷ 2 = 85%
The candidate’s merit score will therefore be 85%.
Tie-Breaking Rule
If two candidates obtain the same merit score:
- The older candidate will be given preference.
- If their dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed the Class 10th examination earlier will be considered first.
Document Verification
Candidates shortlisted through the merit list will be called for document verification at their opted Division/Unit.
Original educational, technical, category and other relevant documents must be produced for verification. A medical fitness certificate issued by an authorised Government doctor of the prescribed rank is also required.
There is no written examination or interview mentioned in this recruitment notification.
