CSIR-NPL Technical Assistant Salary 2026

The Technical Assistant post is placed in Pay Level-06 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.

  • Pay Scale: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400
  • Approx. Initial Gross Emoluments: ₹72,240/- per month (including HRA in Delhi).
  • Additional Benefits: Dearness Allowance (DA), Transport Allowance (TA), medical reimbursement, LTC, and accommodation as per rules.

Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification:

  • For Engineering Codes (TA01-TA04): 3-year full-time Diploma in the relevant branch with at least 60% marks and 2 years of experience in the relevant field.
  • For Science Codes (TA04-TA06): B.Sc. (Computer Science/Physics/Chemistry) or equivalent with 60% marks and 1 year of experience.

Age Limit:

  • Maximum Age: 28 years.
  • Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC(NCL) for reserved posts. Relaxation also applies to PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, and CSIR employees.

  2. Step 2: Complete the online registration and fill in the application details.
  3. Step 3: Upload required documents (Photo, Signature, Experience Certificates, etc.).
  4. Step 4: Pay the application fee online.
  5. Step 5: Mandatory: Print the system-generated application, sign it, and send it with self-attested copies of all documents to CSIR-NPL, New Delhi, so it reaches by March 09, 2026.

National Physical Laboratory Technical Assistant Selection Process 2026

The selection involves two primary stages:

Trade Test: A qualifying practical test to shortlist candidates for the written exam.

Written Examination: OMR-based or Computer-based objective test consisting of three papers:

  • Paper I: Mental Ability Test (Qualifying, no negative marking).
  • Paper II: General Awareness & English Language (1 negative mark for wrong answers).
  • Paper III: Concerned Subject/Trade (100 questions, 1 negative mark for wrong answers).

Final merit is prepared based on performance in Paper II and Paper III only.
