DCI Recruitment 2026 – Eligibility Criteria
Trainee Marine Engineer: Must have completed a four-year Degree in Marine Engineering from any IMU-affiliated college/institute approved by DG Shipping/AICTE, or hold a Graduate Marine Engineering qualification after completing a four-year Engineering Degree.
Trainee Electrical Officer (TELO): Must hold a four-year Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication/Communication Engineering, or Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering recognized by any State/Central Government or AICTE. Must also have completed a four-month ETO course from a DG Shipping-approved institute.
NCV Trainee: Minimum SSC/10th class pass from a recognized education board, along with a Pre-sea GP Rating course and Exit Examination approved by DG Shipping with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks. Age must be less than 25 years as on the date of joining on board.

Candidates selected as Trainee Marine Engineer or TELO must execute a Bank Guarantee of Rs. 3 Lakhs and serve DCI for five years after completing their training. Trainee SHM, ERR, and Cook candidates must execute a Bank Guarantee of Rs. 1 Lakh and serve for two years post-training.
Selection Process
For Fleet Personnel: Selection is based solely on performance in the Walk-In Interview. The minimum qualifying score is 50 out of 100 marks.
For Trainee Marine Engineers and TELOs: Selection is based on 80% weightage for marks in the prescribed qualification and 20% for interview performance. The minimum cut-off is 50% in each component (i.e., 40/80 in qualification and 10/20 in interview).
For NCV Trainees: Selection is based on 50% weightage for SSC/10th class marks and 50% for the GPR Exit Examination. No interview is conducted.
