India’s highly competitive engineering entrance exam JEE Mains has just received a major digital boost. Google has launched full-length free mock test papers for JEE Mains on the Gemini app, in collaboration with leading edtech platforms. The announcement was shared personally by Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, an IIT Kharagpur alumnus, who expressed excitement about the initiative.

What Is Google’s New JEE Mains Feature on Gemini?
The new feature offers full-length, exam-style mock tests for JEE Mains directly within the Gemini app at no cost. Developed in partnership with education companies such as PhysicsWallah and Careers360, these practice papers are designed to closely mimic the actual exam pattern and difficulty level.
Once a student completes a test, Gemini provides immediate feedback, highlighting strengths and areas that need improvement. For any question or concept a student finds difficult, they can simply ask Gemini to explain the correct answer, turning test-taking into an interactive learning experience.
Sundar Pichai’s Reaction
Sharing the news on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Sundar Pichai wrote:

How Will This Help Students?
- Personalised Performance Insights: Gemini identifies knowledge gaps and suggests focused study areas.
- Customised Study Plans: Using AI, the app can help students create a tailored preparation schedule.
- Instant Doubt Resolution: Students can ask follow-up questions on problems they got wrong.
- Accessible & Free: Unlike many paid test series, this is completely free and available to anyone with the Gemini app.
This isn’t Google’s first move in the education-test prep space. Earlier in January 2026, the company had launched free SAT practice tests on Gemini in association with The Princeton Review.

Additionally, Google has been integrating AI into its Google Classroom app, allowing teachers to draft assignments, summarize student progress, and give audio/video feedback freeing educators to focus more on personalized guidance.
Why This Matters for India’s Exam Ecosystem
JEE Mains is one of India’s most taken competitive exams, with nearly 1.2 million aspirants annually. Access to reliable, high-quality mock tests has often been limited to students who can afford coaching or test series. By offering free, AI-powered practice tests, Google is helping level the playing field.
The move also reflects a larger trend of generative AI entering education not just as a chatbot, but as a structured learning and assessment tool.
