IISER IAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for IAT 2026 must ensure they meet the following eligibility criteria:
Qualifying Examination: Must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2024, 2025, or 2026, OR are appearing in 2026.
Subjects: Candidates for the general BS-MS program must have taken at least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
Mathematics Requirement: Mathematics is compulsory for admission to:
- BS-MS in Computational and Data Sciences (IISER Kolkata)
- All B.Tech programs (IISER Bhopal)
- BS in Economic Sciences (IISER Bhopal)
- BS in Economic and Statistical Sciences (IISER Tirupati)
Minimum Marks: Candidates must score a minimum of 60% aggregate in their Qualifying Examination. For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the minimum is 55% aggregate.

The online application process for IAT 2026 has started from 5th March 2026. Candidates must apply online through the official IISER admission portal.

IISER IAT 2026 Selection Process
The admission to IISERs for the academic year 2026-27 will be done solely through IAT 2026.
- Stage 1 – IAT 2026 Examination: Candidates must appear for the computer-based test on June 7, 2026.
- Stage 2 – Result & Rank List: A rank list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in IAT 2026.
- Stage 3 – Counselling & Preference Filling: After the results are declared, qualified candidates must log in to the portal to fill their order of preference for the 13 different academic programs offered across the 7 IISERs.
- Stage 4 – Seat Allocation: Seats will be allocated based on the candidate’s rank, preference list, category, and seat availability. Selected candidates must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) online to confirm their seat.
- Stage 5 – Document Verification & Admission: Provisional admission offers will be confirmed after the candidate reports to the allotted IISER and presents all original documents for verification.
