Eligibility Criteria 2026

1. Regular Ph.D. (With Fellowship)
- Qualification: B.Tech / M.Tech / M.Sc / MCA / MBA / M.Com with at least 60% marks (or 6.0 CGPI). For direct Ph.D. after 4-year UG, 70% marks (or 7.0 CGPI) is required.
- National Exam: Must have a qualified score in GATE / NET-JRF / CSIR-NET / ICMR-JRF / CAT / GPAT.
- Exemption: GATE is exempted only for M.Tech qualified candidates.
2. Ph.D. for Working Professionals (WP)
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of total experience (2 years for graduates from Institutes of National Importance).
- Requirements: Must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the current employer.
- Exam Exemption: Qualification of GATE/NET is not mandatory for the WP category.
Admission Process
The selection consists of a two-stage process:
Stage I (IIITA-PET): A Computer Based Test (CBT) held at IIITA Campus.
- Section 1: General Aptitude (Data Analysis, Stats, Reasoning) – 50 Marks.
- Section 2: Department Specific (Syllabus based on GATE/NET) – 50 Marks.
- Note: Candidates with GATE/NET/JRF are EXEMPTED from Stage I.
Stage II (Personal Interview): Candidates screened in from Stage I or exempted candidates will face a panel of experts for an interview.
