Applicants must meet the following minimum essential qualifications and fall in the prescribed age group.
Educational Qualification
Post Graduate degree from a recognized university in:
Physical Sciences (includes Physics/Applied Physics/Atmospheric Sciences/Meteorology/Oceanography/Climate Science/Geophysics with Meteorology/Environmental Sciences/Electronics or related subjects)
OR
Chemical Sciences (includes Chemistry/Physical Chemistry/Inorganic Chemistry/Organic Chemistry or related subjects)
OR
Mathematical Sciences (includes Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Statistics or related subjects)
OR
M. Tech. in Atmospheric/Oceanic Sciences or related subjects
OR
Master’s degree from any branch of Engineering

The candidates should have qualified in one of the following national level examinations:
- CSIR-UGC NET

- ICAR NET (Lectureship/Assistant Professorship)

Minimum Marks Required

Special Provisions for Candidates with Fellowships
- Candidates awaiting final year results who have qualified in CSIR-UGC NET/UGC NET/ICAR NET/GATE/JEST can also apply. Their appointment shall be subject to passing the M. Tech./M.Sc./M.S./M.E. examination.
- Candidates with valid fellowships from CSIR/UGC/DST-INSPIRE are encouraged to apply and need to specify their preference of fellowship (IITM Research Fellowship or CSIR/UGC/DST-INSPIRE fellowship) in the application form.
- Candidates with valid DST-INSPIRE fellowship but not qualified in any national level examination mentioned above will have to avail the DST-INSPIRE fellowship only.
