What is INBO?
INBO is part of a series of science exams held in India to find and train the best students in biology. Students who perform well in INBO can go on to compete at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO). The exam is organized by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE).
Who Can Apply for INBO 2024-25?
To take part in INBO 2024-25, you must meet the following conditions:
- You must be an Indian citizen. Students living in other countries or holding OCI status are not allowed.
- You should be studying in Class 11 or Class 12 in a recognized school in India.
- Qualified NSEB: Before INBO, you must clear the National Standard Examination in Biology (NSEB). Only students who pass this first stage can appear for INBO.
- You must be able to get an Indian passport, in case you’re selected for the international level.
- If you’re giving the National Standard Examination in Junior Science (NSEJS) in the same year, you can’t appear for INBO.
- If you have already taken part in INBO before, you can’t apply again.
There’s no age limit, but you must meet the other conditions.
INBO 2024-25 Exam Pattern – How the Exam Works
The INBO exam has both theory (written) and practical (lab-based) parts.
Theory Exam
- Includes Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and short-answer questions.
- Tests your understanding of biology and ability to apply what you know.
Practical Exam
- You may need to perform experiments or answer questions based on lab results.
- Tests your skills in analyzing and solving biology problems.
