1. SAILORS FOR MATRIC RECRUIT (MUSICIAN)
Educational Qualification: Passed Matriculation Examination from recognised Board.
Musical Ability: The candidate should have proficiency in Aural Aptitude for music with accuracy in Tempo, Pitch and singing one complete song. Should also have actual practical skill on any instrument of Indian or foreign origin with proficiency in tuning of instrument, matching unknown notes with instrument, prepared piece, sight reading of Indian Classical/ Tabulature/ Staff Notation, performance of Scale/ Raaga/ Taala and basic theory of Indian or International music.
Note:- Candidates performing on Indefinite Pitch Instruments such as Jazz Drums set, Brass Drum, Snare Drums, Side Drums, Cymbals, Non Chromatic instruments such as Bugle & monotone instruments used to produce only one note or drone will not be eligible. Musical Experience Certificate:
i) Candidates performing Hindustani or Carnatic Classical music on Wind Instruments will require a musical experience certificate from any musical Institute or organization of repute.
ii) A certificate of minimum Initial Grade from International Boards such as Trinity College of Music, London or Royal School of Music, London will be mandatory for candidates performing western notation or western music on Wind Instruments.
iii) Other candidates will be required to submit certificates of participation/ awards presented at various events.
Age Limit: Born between 01/10/1994 to 30/09/2002.
Pay Scale: Rs. 21,700- 69,100/-
Only Unmarried Male candidates are eligible to apply.
The selected candidates will initially undergo Training. The training for the course will commence in October 2019, with 15 weeks Basic Training at INS Chilka in Odisha. Thereafter the trainees are sent to Mumbai for 26 weeks specialised training in Military Music. During the initial training period, a Stipend of Rs.14,600/- per month will be paid to the candidates.
Physical Standards:
(i) Male Candidates: Height — Minimum 157 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate. Minimum Chest expansion of 5 cms.
Candidates must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties. For details regarding minimum height standards and other medical standards please see the Official Advt.
Candidates’ Selection: Selection of candidates will be through Preliminary Screening Board and Final Screening Board. The Preliminary Screening Board is tentatively to be held from 06th to 10th July 2019. The Final Screening Board will be conducted at INS Kunjali, Colaba, Mumbai. The Final Screening Board will be tentatively scheduled from 03rd to 06th September 2019. The examination centres will be Mumbai, Kochi and Visakhapatnam.
