In a significant step towards modernizing and streamlining defense recruitment, the Indian Navy and the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) have formalized a strategic partnership. On January 28, 2025, in New Delhi, the two premier government institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the conduct of the Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) for Agniveer (SSR & MR) and SSR (Medical) entries.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Shri S Gopalkrishnan, IAS, Chairman of the SSC, and Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, Chief of Personnel, Indian Navy, and attended by senior officials from both organizations.

Key Features of the Collaboration
This collaboration is designed to bring greater credibility, transparency, and fairness to the Indian Navy’s recruitment process. The INET will be a pan-India, computer-based test conducted with state-of-the-art technology.
1. Pan-India Reach & Accessibility
The INET will be conducted online across the country, ensuring representation from all 28 States and 8 Union Territories. This nationwide reach aims to provide equal opportunity to youth from every corner of India.
2. Advanced Examination Technology
The test will leverage the latest in examination technology, ensuring a robust and secure process. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other advanced tools will be integral for monitoring and maintaining the integrity of the examination.
3. Streamlined Recruitment for Key Entries
The MoU specifically covers the recruitment for:
- Agniveer (SSR & MR): Senior Secondary Recruit and Matric Recruit under the Agnipath Scheme.
- SSR (Medical): Recruitment in the medical category.
