Engagement of Interns at IWAI, under the Internship Programme (2026-27)

Applications are invited from eligible Indian students for the IWAI Internship Programme 2026-27. The internship offers a short-term exposure to the functioning and project work at the Authority’s Headquarters in Noida and its various Regional/Sub-Offices across India. Students pursuing or having completed Graduate, Post-Graduate, or Research courses from recognized universities are eligible to apply.

IWAI Internship Programme Details

  • Internship Period: Throughout the year, based on availability.
  • Duration: Minimum of 1 month, maximum of 3 months (extendable up to 6 months in exceptional cases).
  • Location: IWAI Headquarters, Noida, or various Regional Offices (Kolkata, Patna, Guwahati, Kochi, Varanasi, Bhubaneshwar) and Sub-Offices.
  • Stipend:
    • Undergraduate (UG): ₹10,000 per month
    • Postgraduate (PG) / Research Scholar: ₹20,000 per month
      (Stipend payable upon satisfactory completion)
  • Logistics: Working space provided. Interns must bring their own laptops. No accommodation provided. Travel on official assignments will be reimbursed.

IWAI Internship Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate (UG)Pursuing/completed Graduate courses; must have obtained at least 75% marks in 12th examination.
Postgraduate (PG)Pursuing/completed Post-Graduate courses; must have obtained at least 60% marks in graduation degree.
Research ScholarMust have obtained at least 60% marks in Post-Graduation.

Research & Project Areas

Interns will be attached to a specific division and work on live projects. The areas of work depend on departmental requirements and can include:

  • Traffic, Cargo Handling & Terminal Operations
  • Vessel Operations & Navigation Management
  • Finance, Administration & HR
  • Information Technology & Legal
  • Indo-Bangladesh Protocol Route & River Cruises

  1. Eligible candidates must send their applications in the prescribed format, along with their CV, to The Secretary, Inland Waterways Authority of India, A-13, Sector-1, Noida-201301.
  2. Applicants must clearly indicate their area(s) of interest and preferred division(s) in the application form.
  3. Selected candidates must produce a “No Objection Certificate” from their Head of Department/Principal at the time of joining.
