The JTET Notification 2026 was released on 28th March 2026, announcing the important application dates for the upcoming exam. Who is Eligible to Apply for Jharkhand TET 2026?

Candidates applying for Jharkhand TET 2026 must meet the educational qualifications based on the paper they choose: Paper I (Primary: Classes 1–5) or Paper II (Upper Primary: Classes 6–8). The minimum age to apply is 21 years as of 1st August 2026. Candidates appearing in their final year of teacher training are also eligible to apply, subject to submission of proof of passing before a specified date.

Subject-Specific Eligibility for Paper II:

  • Math & Science Teacher: Must be a graduate in a relevant Science/Math discipline with the above-mentioned teaching qualifications.
  • Social Science Teacher: Must be a graduate in Arts/Humanities/Social Science with the above-mentioned teaching qualifications.
  • Language Teacher: Must be a graduate in the chosen language.

JTET Age Limit and Relaxation

  • Minimum Age: 21 years (as of 1st August 2026).
  • Maximum Age: As per the age limit set by the Personnel, Administrative Reforms, and Official Language Department, Jharkhand for government services. Age relaxation is available for in-service teachers and as per previous exam intervals.

Steps to Apply Online for Jharkhand TET Via Official Website

Candidates can apply for Jharkhand TET 2026 via the official website by following the steps given below. Make sure to have your documents ready before starting.

Step 1: Visit the official website at www.jac.jharkhand.gov.in and go to the ‘Exam Form Portal’ section to open the JTET 2026 application link.

Step 2: Complete the New Registration process to generate your Registration Number and password.

Step 3: Log in using your credentials and fill out the online application form with your personal details, qualification, preferred exam level (Primary, Upper Primary, or both), and Language-II choice.

Step 4: Upload scanned copies of your passport-size photograph and signature as per the prescribed format.

Step 5: Pay the application fee online through the available payment gateway.

Step 6: Submit the form and download/print the final application confirmation page for future reference.

JTET Selection Process 2026

JTET 2026 is a qualifying eligibility test, not a direct recruitment exam. Candidates must clear the Written Exam to become eligible for Primary-level and Upper Primary Level teaching jobs in Jharkhand schools.

Written Examination (Paper I / Paper II). Candidates have to appear for Paper I (Classes 1–5) or Paper II (Classes 6–8), depending on the teaching level they choose. Those aiming for Classes 1–8 must appear for both papers. The exam is offline with multiple-choice questions and lasts for 2 hours 30 minutes.

After the exam, candidates must secure at least the prescribed cutoff to be declared qualified:

  • General Category: 60%
  • BC-I / BC-II: 55%
  • SC / ST / PVTG / Divyang: 52%

Candidates who qualify are issued a JTET eligibility certificate by the JAC.

Using this Certificate, candidates can apply separately for Teacher Recruitment in Jharkhand.
