JNVST Class 11 Admission 2027-28 Notification Out

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, an autonomous organization under the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, has notified the Lateral Entry Selection Test 2027 for admission to Class XI in JNVs.

This admission is conducted only against vacant seats likely to be available in JNVs after students studying Class X in JNVs during 2026-27 are promoted to Class XI. JNVs are co-educational, fully residential schools affiliated to CBSE, spread across 27 States and 8 Union Territories (except Tamil Nadu), presently comprising 665 functional Vidyalayas.

JNVST Class 11 Eligibility Criteria 2027-28

Who is Eligible

  • Date of birth must be between 1st June 2010 and 31st July 2012 (both days inclusive) — applicable to all categories, including SC/ST.
  • The candidate must be currently studying in Class X (session 2026-27) in a Government/Government-recognized school (affiliated to CBSE or any other State/Government-recognized Board) situated in the same district where the JNV is located.
  • Only Indian Nationals studying Class X in India are eligible to apply.

Who is NOT Eligible

  • Candidates who have already passed Class X prior to the 2026-27 session are not eligible.
  • Only candidates studying in Class X during the 2026-27 session can apply.

JNVST Class 11 Application Fee

Registration for the Lateral Entry Selection Test is completely free of cost and can be done only through the online application portal linked at www.navodaya.gov.in.

How to Apply for JNVST Class 11 Admission 2027-28?

Candidates can apply directly through the official NVS website. Follow the steps below to complete the online registration.

  1. Visit the official website: www.navodaya.gov.in.
  2. Go through the notification cum prospectus and confirm fulfilment of eligibility criteria.
  3. Keep the following soft-copy documents ready (JPG format, 10–100 KB each):
    • Photograph of the candidate
    • Signature of the candidate
    • Signature of the parent
  4. Fill in basic details such as State (residence and study), District (residence and study), and Aadhaar number.
  5. Select a maximum of two streams; for each stream, choose up to three preferred JNVs.
  6. Upload the photograph and signatures of both candidate and parent.
  7. Submit the application form; a help desk is available free of cost at every JNV to assist candidates/parents.
  8. Use the correction window (opened for a couple of days after the last date) to correct any details, since no further correction requests will be entertained afterward.

JNVST Class 11 Selection Process 2027-28

  1. Vacant seats in Class XI will be filled only through the Lateral Entry Selection Test, subject to accommodation availability and administrative exigencies.
  2. Vacant seats reserved under Rural/Girl/SC/ST/OBC/Divyang categories will be filled by candidates of the respective category.
  3. After the test, a district-wise merit list is prepared first, followed by a State-level common merit list to fill any remaining vacancies within the same State.
  4. Candidates from one State are not eligible for admission in another State.
  5. Selected students will be informed by the JNV Principal via SMS/Speed Post; results can also be checked on the registration portal.
  6. Change of allotted JNV or stream will not be entertained once selected.
  7. Newly admitted students must undergo a medical check-up and a 10-day orientation programme.

JNVST Class 11 Reservation of Seats

  • Vacant seats under SC/ST/OBC/Divyang categories are reserved for respective category candidates, as per the applicable Central OBC list.
  • OBC candidates whose caste is not in the Central list must apply as General candidates.
  • No separate reservation exists for transgender candidates; they are included under Boys for reservation purposes across Rural, Urban, SC, ST, OBC and Divyang sub-categories.
  • If suitable candidates are unavailable in a category, seats are filled as per NVS norms.

JNVST Class 11 Exam Pattern 2027

  • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes (11:00 AM to 1:30 PM); an additional 50 minutes is allowed for Divyang candidates.
  • Question paper is bilingual (English and Hindi), objective type only (MCQs with 4 options).
  • A single OMR-based test booklet with 5 sections and 100 questions is provided.
  • 1 mark for every correct answer; no negative marking.

Candidates must score a minimum qualifying mark of 6 out of 20 in each of the 5 subjects. The merit list (out of 60) is prepared based on the following stream-wise subject combinations:

  2. Higher marks out of 40 (two subjects, excluding Mental Ability).
  3. Higher marks out of all five subjects (out of 100).
  4. Candidate with lower age is preferred.

JNVST Class 11 Syllabus 2027

The Selection Test covers 5 subjects, each carrying 20 marks:

  • Mental Ability: Pattern Completion, Figure Series, Geometrical Figure Completion, Mirror Imaging, Punched Hole Pattern, Calendar/Time/Clock, Embedded Figure, Coding-Decoding, Orientation/Direction, Space Visualization.
  • English: Reading Comprehension (discursive & case-based passages) and Grammar (Tenses, Modals, Subject-Verb Concord, Reported Speech, Determiners, Spelling, Syntax, etc.).
  • Mathematics: Number Systems, Algebra (Polynomials, Linear Equations, Quadratic Equations, Arithmetic Progressions), Coordinate Geometry, Geometry (Triangles, Circles), Trigonometry, Mensuration, Statistics and Probability.

Documents Required After Provisional Selection

Provisionally selected candidates must submit the following documents at the time of admission for verification:

  • Birth certificate issued by a competent Government authority (proof of date of birth)
  • Class X pass certificate issued by the concerned Board
  • Residence certificate of the parent from the district where the JNV is located
  • Rural area certificate (for candidates applying under Rural quota)
  • Copy of the candidate’s Aadhaar Card
  • Category/community certificate (SC/ST/OBC as per Central list), wherever applicable
  • Divyang (disability) certificate, wherever applicable

JNVST Class 11 Result 2027

  • The result is likely to be announced in May/June 2027 on the application portal.
  • Results will display the stream, JNV, and merit (District/State) for which the candidate is selected.
