MECON Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates need a regular, full-time qualification from a recognised university or institute (UGC/AICTE approved) plus the post-wise experience shown above. Certificate courses, such as safety diplomas, may be done part time.
What counts as work experience
- Full-time, regular-salaried work in the relevant field only.
- MT / ET / GT on-the-job training counts only if done in a PSU.
- Apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship Act counts.
- Freelance, entrepreneurial, internship, articleship, teaching, research and academic project work do not count.
- Experience certificates from every past employer are mandatory; self-declarations are not accepted.
MECON Age Limit 2026 and Age Relaxation
The upper age limit is 50 years for General and EWS candidates as on 25.09.2026. Relaxation applies as per Government of India rules.

SC, ST and OBC candidates applying against UR posts get no age or fee relaxation.
MECON Salary 2026 and Other Benefits
The consolidated monthly pay ranges from Rs. 41,190 to Rs. 78,390 depending on the post. On top of the pay, selected candidates get:
- Site allowance: 7.5% of pay at site/project locations.
- Metro allowance: 2.5% of pay at metro locations.
- HRA: 5% of pay if company accommodation is not taken.
- Annual increment: 3% of consolidated pay.
- Medical: Ispat Hospital facilities at Ranchi; retainer doctor elsewhere; mediclaim premium reimbursement up to Rs. 15,000 (Rs. 4 lakh floater cover).
- Leave: 12 days CL, 18 days EL (accumulates up to 45), 14 days HPL, maternity leave as for regular staff, plus national, festival and 4 restricted holidays.
- Group Personal Accident Policy: Rs. 25 lakh sum insured.
The offer is issued for 1 year at first and renewed yearly up to the post’s contract period, based on performance and company needs.
MECON Application Fee 2026
The fee is Rs. 500 (non-refundable) for UR, OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates, paid online only through the payment gateway in the application form. SC, ST, PwD, Ex-Servicemen and internal candidates are exempt. After paying, click Verify so the application status changes to “Submitted”.
MECON Selection Process 2026
Selection is through a personal interview, followed by document verification and a medical examination. The interview list, date and venue are posted on the MECON website and emailed to shortlisted candidates. Outstation candidates get travel allowance at 3AC/CC rail fare or Rs. 7 per km by road, whichever is less.
