MoSPI National Internship in Official Statistics Internship Vacancy 2026
MoSPI has proposed to select a total of 230 interns during Phase I of 2026-27. The internships are divided into two groups: Group ‘A’ (offices located in New Delhi) and Group ‘B’ (offices located in the rest of the country). Group A has a total of 31 slots, and Group B has a total of 199 slots.

MoSPI NIOS Internship Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates willing to apply for the MoSPI NIOS Internship Recruitment 2026 must ensure they fulfil the required eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualification and marks as specified in the official notification.
Educational Qualification & Marks
- For Undergraduate Students: Must have completed/appeared in exams of the 2nd year/4th semester of a bachelor’s degree course with at least one paper in Statistics or Mathematics. Must have secured not less than 75% or equivalent in 12th Class.
- For Post-Graduate/Research Scholars: Must be pursuing PG/Research/Ph.D. in Statistics/Mathematics/Economics/Demography etc., with at least one paper in Statistics or Mathematics in their PG curriculum. Must have secured not less than 70% or equivalent marks in Graduation.
- For Graduates/Post-Graduates (Completed): Applicants who have completed their graduation/post-graduation within the last two years with not less than 70% or equivalent marks.

How to Apply Online for National Internship in Official Statistics Internship
Interested and eligible candidates can follow the step-by-step process below to apply online for the MoSPI NIOS Internship Recruitment 2026 before the last date.
Step 1: Visit the official online portal for National Internship in Official Statistics (NIOS) at https://internship.mospi.gov.in.
Step 2: Carefully read the instructions and fill in the application form for either Group ‘A’ (Delhi offices) or Group ‘B’ (offices outside Delhi). Note: Applying for both groups will lead to disqualification.
Step 3: Upload scanned copies of your recent passport-size photograph (attested by Head of Institution), mark sheets (12th, Graduation, PG), and a self-attested copy of your ID card. Also, upload the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your Head of Institution/Department.
Step 4: If your marks are in CGPA, ensure you upload the document with the conversion formula to percentage.
Step 5: Fill in all the required details carefully, including your educational qualifications and aggregate marks, and submit the application form.
Step 6: Take a printout of the submitted application form and retain it for future reference.
MoSPI NIOS Internship Selection Process 2026
The selection of interns will be done through the online portal based on merit.
- Merit List: Selection will be based on the aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination (12th, Graduation, or Post-Graduation, as applicable).
- Group A Selection: Done by the Training Unit, Capacity Development Division, MoSPI, New Delhi.
- Group B Selection: Done by respective Regional Heads of NSO (FOD) offices, EnSD Kolkata, etc.
- Allocation: The internship office will be allocated based on the candidate’s merit and the place option exercised by them.
- Selected candidates will be informed via the online portal and email.
Key Points to Note:
- This is a training opportunity and cannot be construed as any kind of job or assurance for a job in the Government of India.
- Candidates must submit only one application for either Group A or Group B.
- Interns who discontinue before completion will not be entitled to any stipend or certificate.
- No TA/DA will be paid for reporting to or returning from the internship location.
