The MP ESB has released the rulebook for the “सूबेदार (अनुसचिवीय) शीघ्रलेखक एवं सहायक उप निरीक्षक (अनुसचिवीय) की सीधी भर्ती हेतु चयन परीक्षा-2026” based on Police Headquarters letter No. 40-A dated 30/07/2026, issued under G.O.P. 150/2022. The recruitment is being conducted for two cadres — Subedar (Ministerial) Stenographer and ASI (Ministerial) — spread across six post codes covering General Branch, Special Branch, Field Units (मैदानी इकाई) and the Crime Investigation Department. MPESB Subedar ASI Apply Online 2026

Candidates can apply online for MP Police Subedar Steno and ASI Ministerial Recruitment 2026 through the official MPESB portal. The application link will be active from 24th September 2026 and the last date to submit the online form is 8th October 2026 (up to 12:00 midnight). Applications can be filled either directly through internet banking/credit card or through an authorised MP Online Kiosk. Only one application form is required for all posts, and candidates must mark their preference order for every post they are eligible for.

Age Relaxation Rules:

  • Ex-Servicemen: The entire period of previous defence service is deducted from the current age, provided the resulting age does not exceed the upper age limit by more than 3 years.
  • Retrenched Government Employees: Deduction of up to 7 years of previous temporary service, provided the resulting age does not exceed the upper limit by more than 3 years.
  • If a candidate is eligible for more than one relaxation, only the single most beneficial relaxation will be granted.
  • Contract, honorarium and voluntary workers such as Shiksha Karmi, Panchayat Karmi, Samvida Shikshak, Sahayak Adhyapak of local bodies are not eligible for age relaxation.
  • Members of CRPF, BSF, ITBP and other central paramilitary/police forces are not eligible for ex-serviceman age relaxation.

General Eligibility Conditions

  • The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  • As per government orders, a candidate having more than 2 living children, one of whom was born on or after 26th January 2001, is not eligible for appointment. However, if one child is living and a subsequent delivery results in 2 or more children, the candidate will not be disqualified.
  • Government employees must obtain prior permission from their appointing authority to appear in the exam, and must submit a resignation/relieving order from previous service if selected.
  • Candidates dismissed or removed from service on disciplinary grounds are not eligible.
  • The Police Department has been exempted from recruiting Divyangjan (PwD) candidates as per Home (Police) Department memorandum dated 04.04.1995.

MP Police Subedar ASI Selection Process 2026

The selection will be completed in two stages.

First Stage (Prathm Charan): Online written examination conducted by MP ESB.

Second Stage (Dwitiya Charan): Document verification and practical (typing/shorthand) examination conducted by the Police Department at Bhopal under a Selection Committee constituted by the Director General of Police.

Based on the cut-off percentile of the first stage, candidates equal to seven times the advertised posts in each vertical category will be called for the practical exam. All candidates securing a percentile equal to the cut-off will be called even if the number exceeds seven times. No separate cut-off percentile will be fixed for horizontal categories. The final selection will be based on the total of written exam marks and practical exam marks.

Note: If a word is misprinted in the question paper, typing it exactly as printed will not be counted as an error. Two familiarisation sessions of one minute each are given before the exam.

Error Calculation in Typing

Full Errors: Omission of any word/number, addition of an extra word/number, every change of a wrong word/number, interchanging a correct word with a wrong word not in the passage, adding words not in the passage (for example writing ‘पाशाला’ instead of ‘पाठशाला’), and incorrect sentence construction.

Half Errors: Spacing mistakes, multiple errors within a single word (counted as not more than one full error), stroke/character count variation, and spelling mistakes such as ‘मैं’ for ‘में’, ‘कि’ for ‘की’, ‘और’ for ‘ओर’, ‘हैं’ for ‘है’.

MP Police Subedar ASI Medical Standard 2026

The medical examination will be conducted by the District Medical Board and will cover the following.

  • Measurement of height.
  • Vision: No eye disease or disorder. Vision acuity without glasses should not be less than 6/9 in one eye and not less than 6/12 in the other eye. Candidates must be able to distinguish main colours, tested through Ishihara plates.
  • Candidates must not have knock-knees or flat feet.
  • The candidate’s body must not be disabled in any manner.

If a candidate is declared unfit at the district level, they may apply for re-examination by the Divisional Medical Board. In case of a difference of opinion between the district and divisional boards, the department will refer the case to the State Level Medical Board. A nominated gazetted police officer will be present during every medical examination and the process will be videographed.

MP Police Subedar ASI Salary 2026

The pay scale for both posts is given below. As per the GAD circular dated 12th December 2019, a stipend of 70% of the minimum pay will be paid in the first year, 80% in the second year and 90% in the third year.

Key Reservation Points:

  • The Unreserved category is not a class but an open competition category. Any candidate who has not availed any relaxation is eligible to be placed in the UR category on the basis of a higher percentile.
  • Reserved category candidates who avail relaxation in age, educational qualification or physical qualification will be counted only within their reserved category.
  • If suitable candidates are not available against horizontal reserved posts for women or ex-servicemen, those posts will be filled from the Open cell of the same vertical category. Such posts will not be carried forward.
  • If 35% women and 10% ex-servicemen are already available on merit in the Open cell, no separate additional reservation will be given.
  • All reservation and age relaxation benefits are subject to MP domicile.

Bonus Marks for Priority Categories

As per GAD circulars, candidates belonging to the following priority categories will be granted 5% additional marks over the marks obtained in the written exam.

Documents Required for MP Police Subedar ASI Document Verification

Document verification will be conducted at the exam centre in Bhopal by the Selection Committee constituted by the Police Headquarters. Candidates must carry the following original documents along with self-attested photocopies.

  • Birth certificate or High School/Intermediate (10+2) marksheet showing date of birth
  • Educational qualification certificates
  • Caste certificate for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and EWS certificate in the prescribed format with MP domicile
  • Defence service certificate along with MP domicile for ex-servicemen
  • Service certificate issued by the employer for already employed candidates
  • Award certificate for inter-caste marriage incentive scheme beneficiaries
  • Vikram Award certificate for age relaxation
  • Birth certificate of children for married candidates
  • No Objection Certificate from the employer for already employed candidates
  • Transgender identity certificate issued by the District Magistrate in the prescribed format
  • Photocopy of the first page of the bank passbook for candidates claiming travel allowance

Note: Unattested copies will not be accepted. If the candidate is found ineligible during document verification, they will not be selected even if they have qualified the practical exam.

Travel Allowance

Only SC, ST and OBC candidates of Madhya Pradesh will be paid actual travel fare for appearing in the written exam and second stage as per government orders. If travel tickets are not produced, the minimum of the train or bus fare to the candidate’s district will be paid. The fare will be paid to second stage candidates after verification of their caste certificate. Candidates must carry a photocopy of the first page of their bank passbook.

MP Police Subedar ASI Exam Centre 2026

Candidates must select four exam city preferences while filling the application form. The Board will attempt to allot centres on a random basis from the preferred cities based on seat availability. The exam will be conducted at the following centres.

MP Police Subedar ASI Admit Card 2026

The Test Admit Card (TAC) will be released on the official website esb.mp.gov.in in two parts. The first part will contain the candidate’s name, exam name, roll number and exam centre details, along with permanent body identification marks and the photo ID card details. Candidates must download and print the admit card using their online application form number. Admit cards will not be sent separately by post.

  • Admit card downloaded from the Board’s website
  • Original photo identity card — Voter ID, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, officially issued and signed marksheet with photograph, or Passport (e-Aadhaar is not valid)
  • Aadhaar Card / e-Aadhaar Card / photocopy of Aadhaar / Aadhaar number / Aadhaar VID
  • Ball point pen

Prohibited Items: Mobile phones, scientific and programmable calculators, log tables, Bluetooth devices, watch alarms, listening and recording devices, pagers, protectors, compasses, scales, sun glasses, whitener and any kind of rough or copying material are strictly banned inside the exam hall. Candidates will not be allowed to leave the exam room from the start of the exam until it ends.

Appointment and Posting Conditions

  • Every selected candidate will be appointed on three years of probation and sent for the prescribed training.
  • Selected candidates must complete a minimum of 5 years of service in the allotted unit before becoming eligible for transfer to other units.
  • Selected candidates will not be posted in their home district, except at Police Headquarters, Madhya Pradesh.
  • Candidates can be posted in other branches of the Police Department and all departments of the MP Government, within or outside the state, including EOW and Special Police Establishment (Lokayukta), without requiring their consent.
  • There is no provision for permanent or temporary exemption from training. Candidates not reporting for training on the prescribed date will have their names removed from the selection list.
  • Appointment orders must be issued within a maximum of 3 months from the date of issue of the selection list.

Answer Key Objection and Result

After the exam, the Board invites objections on the question paper through an online link on the ESB website. The link remains active for three days only after being uploaded. An objection can be registered only once per question and a fee of ₹150 per question plus other charges is payable. Physical representations will not be considered. The final answer key will be prepared after examination by subject experts, and the decision of the key committee will be final.

Questions may be cancelled if the question structure is wrong, more than one option is correct, no option is correct, there is a difference between the Hindi and English translation, or there is any printing error. For cancelled questions, marks are awarded to all candidates in proportion to the marks they scored in that paper.

Result Format: The first stage result will only mention “Qualified/Disqualified for Second Stage” based on the percentile obtained. The final result will be uploaded on esb.mp.gov.in after all stages are completed. There is no provision for re-counting or re-evaluation after the result is declared.
