NGSF Internship Program 2025-26 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the specific eligibility conditions set by the NGSF.

Educational Qualification
Applicants must be a student in one of the following categories at an Indian institute:

  • 2nd year of a 3-year undergraduate program; OR
  • 2nd or 3rd year of a 4-year undergraduate program; OR
  • 1st year of a 2-year master’s program; OR
  • 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of a 5-year integrated program.

The applicant must be interested in undertaking a life science-associated internship.

Key Conditions for Eligibility

  • The internship must be for a period of two months (minimum 56 days) or three months (minimum 84 days).
  • The applicant must be accepted to work in the lab of a professor/PI at any Indian Institute outside of their own institute of study.
  • Students who are already receiving financial assistance from the PI or other agencies (like KVPY, INSA, etc.) are not eligible for additional support from the NGSF program.
  • The program does not support internships where the intern has to pay a fee to gain experience.
