National Institute of Ayurveda PhD Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria
The age and educational requirements must be fulfilled by applicants to apply for the NIA Ph.D. Programme 2026. If candidates are ineligible, they need not apply.
Educational Qualification
- Essential: MD/MS Degree in Ayurveda in the concerned subject from an institute recognized by NCISM.
- Final Year Candidates: MD Final year scholars can also apply, but they must submit a certificate of having appeared in the final year examination (as per the format in the BOI) and must have completed their PG degree at the time of the interview.

National Institute of Ayurveda PhD Selection Process 2026
The selection process for the Ph.D. programme is as follows:
- Stage 1: Screening: Candidates (except those with NET/JRF qualifications) must appear for a common entrance examination.
- Written Entrance Exam: A 90-minute test with 100 MCQ questions covering the PG-level subject, Research Methodology, General Knowledge about AYUSH, and basic Computer/IT knowledge.
- Shortlisting for Interview: Candidates (maximum 3 per seat) who score above the cut-off percentile (50th percentile for UR, 45th for SC/ST) will be shortlisted based on their entrance exam merit.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an offline interview where they must give an 8-10 minute presentation on their research interest and proposal. The interview evaluates research aptitude, competency, and the novelty of the proposal.
