PSSSB Craft Instructor Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the PSSSB Craft Instructor Recruitment 2026 must fulfil the eligibility conditions prescribed for the two categories of posts – Degree/Diploma holders (Annexure-A) and NTC/NAC holders (Annexure-B).
Educational Qualification
For Craft Instructor (Degree/Diploma) posts under Annexure-A, candidates must fulfil the following:
10th pass with Science and Mathematics under the 10+2 system from a recognized School or Board. Bachelor’s Degree/B.Voc. in the relevant engineering discipline (as applicable to the trade, such as Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Chemical, Instrumentation, Textile, Agriculture Engineering, etc.) from an AICTE/UGC recognized institution, along with 1 year of relevant experience in a Factories Act-registered organization or teaching experience. OR a 3-year Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline from AICTE or a recognized Board of Technical Education, along with 2 years of relevant experience. Degree/Diploma holders must acquire the National Craft Instructor Certificate (NCIC) in the relevant trade within 3 years of appointment, failing which their services will be discontinued.
For Craft Instructor (NTC/NAC) posts under Annexure-B, candidates must fulfil the following:
10th pass with Science and Mathematics under the 10+2 system from a recognized School or Board. National Trade Certificate (NTC) or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in the relevant trade from a recognized institution. National Craft Instructor Certificate (NCIC) in the relevant trade. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a Factories Act-registered organization or teaching experience in a Government-recognized institution.
Additionally, candidates must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject, or an equivalent examination in Punjabi, as per Rule 17 of the Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994. Candidates must also fulfil the required educational qualification before the last date of online application, and must clear a Departmental Practical Examination within 3 years of appointment.
Age Limit (As on 01.01.2026)
General category candidates must be between 18 and 37 years of age. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Backward Class categories domiciled in Punjab get relaxation up to a maximum age of 42 years. State and Central Government employees get relaxation up to a maximum age of 45 years. Ex-servicemen domiciled in Punjab get age relaxation as per the Punjab Recruitment of Ex-servicemen Rules, 1982. Widows, divorcees, and certain other categories of married women get relaxation up to 40 years.

The PSSSB Craft Instructor Selection Process consists of the following stages:
- Written Examination: An Objective Type (MCQ) written test will be conducted for all successfully applied candidates. Each question carries 1 mark, and there is negative marking of 1/4th mark for every wrong answer.
- Merit List Preparation: A merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the written examination.
- Tie-Breaking Criteria: In case two or more candidates secure equal marks, merit will be decided in the following order:
- The candidate with a higher age (older date of birth) will be given preference.
- If age is also equal, the candidate with a higher percentage in the required educational qualification will be preferred.
- If the tie still persists, the candidate with higher marks in Matriculation will be given preference.
- Document Verification/Counselling: Based on the merit list, candidates will be called for counselling (online or physical) for verification of original certificates and documents related to educational qualification, technical qualification, and reservation category.
- Final Recommendation: Candidates found completely eligible after counselling will be recommended to the concerned department against the vacancies available at that time, in the respective category/post code they applied under.
Note: Merely appearing in the written exam, featuring in the merit list, or being called for counselling does not entitle a candidate to final recommendation. The Board’s decision on eligibility will be final.
