Educational Qualification
A Diploma in Civil Engineering obtained from a Technical Examination Board or from any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under a Central or State Act in India; or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
- (Note: Candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering are not eligible to apply.)
- Equivalent Qualifications: Diploma in Civil and Rural Engineering, Civil Draftsman, Civil Engineering and Planning, Civil Engineering (Building Service Engineering), Civil Engineering (Construction Technology), Civil Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Construction Technology and Management, Quantity Surveying and Construction Management, Survey Engineering, Transportation Engineering.
- OR A certificate of a minimum One/Two years course of Surveyor obtained from an Industrial Training Institute recognised by the Government.
- Basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
- Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 18 years.
- Maximum Age: 33 years (as on 20th November 2026).
- Age Relaxation: Applicable for reserved categories, women, ex-servicemen, and PwBD candidates as per Gujarat Government rules (e.g., 5 years for General Women/Reserved Male, 10 years for Reserved Women, etc.).

The selection process consists of two stages:
Written Examination: A competitive exam consisting of 210 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) divided into Part-A and Part-B.
- Part-A (90 Marks): Reasoning & Data Interpretation (30), Mathematical Tests (30), Constitution of India, Current Affairs, Gujarati & English Comprehension (30).
- Part-B (120 Marks): Questions related to the relevant subject (Civil Engineering/Surveying).
- Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes).
- Negative Marking: 1/4th mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
Physical Test (Walking Test): Candidates shortlisted based on the written exam will have to undergo a walking test.
- Male: 25 km in 4 hours.
- Female: 14 km in 4 hours.
