401 Assistant Commandant in Central Armed Police Forces through Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Last Dt. 27/08/2012

Union Public Service Commission is going to conduct Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination—2012 for recruitment of 401 Nos. “Assistant Commandants (Group-A)” in the Central Armed Forces (CAPF) namely Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The examination will be on 11th Nov, 2012. Eligibility and norms is given below in brief—

CENTRAL ARMED POLICE FORCES (ASSISTANT COMMANDANTS) EXAMINATION— 2012 BY UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (UPSC) FOR RECRUITMENT OF ASSISTANT COMMANDANT IN CENTRAL ARMED POLICE FORCES, VIZ – BSF, SSB, CISF, CRPF AND ITBP. EXAMINATION NOTICE NO.11/2012-CPF

Name of the Post: Assistant Commandant (Group—A)
No. of vacancies: 401 Nos. 

Numbers of vacancies according to forces wise—
1. Border Security Force (BSF): 94 Nos.
2. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF): 223 Nos.
3. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF): 44 Nos.
4. Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP): 26 Nos.
5. Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB): 14 Nos.

N.B: Both male and female candidates may apply for the posts of Assistant Commandants in CRPF, CISF and SSB. However, for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandants in BSF and ITBP only Male candidates are eligible. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC and others is as per norms.

Qualification Required: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from recognized Institutions.
Candidates waiting for their result to declare or preparing for final year exam may also apply but in their case they will have to submit such qualification certificate in due course. (Details in advt.)

Age Limits: Candidates must be between 20yrs to 25yrs as on 1st August 202, i.e. date of birth should be between 02/08/2012 to 01/08/2012. Upper age relaxation for SC/ST—5yrs, OBC – 3yrs. Domicile of kashmirs/ Governments Servants and Others – as per norms.

Physical Standards:—
For Males: Height— 165cm; Chest (unexpanded/expanded)— 81cm/86cm and Weight— 50kg minimum.
For Female: Height—157cm and Weight— 46 Kg.
Candidates should have good eyesight and high color vision. Candidates should be free from any internal disease/ physical defects and must have sound health.

Selection Steps: Selection of the candidates will be though Written Examination to be conducted by UPSC on 11th November 2012, in 2 paper; Paper—I and Paper—II. Paper –I will be of Objective Multiple choice types of 250 marks on General Ability and Intelligence and Paper—II will be of 200 marks on General Studies, Essay and Comprehension.
Qualified candidates from the Written Examination will be called for Physical Standard Test/ Physical Efficiency Test and Medical Standards Test.

Physical Efficiency Test will be of follows—
For Male: (i) 100 Mtrs race in 16 seconds, (ii) 800 Mtrs race in 3 minutes 45 seconds, (iii) Long Jump of 3.5 mtrs in 3 chances and (iv) Shot Put(7.26kgs) of 4.5 Mtrs

For Females: (i) 100 Mtrs race in 18 seconds, (ii) 800 Mtrs race in 4 minutes 45 seconds and (iii) Long Jump of 3.0 mtrs in 3 chances

The eligible candidates shall be issued and e-admission certificate 3 weeks before the date of Examination. The e-admission certificate will be available for candidates in the official site of UPSC. No Admit Card/ e-admission certificate will be send by post to the candidates.

Application/ Examination Fee: Candidates are required to pay Rs.200/- (Not required in case of SC/ST and Female candidates. Fee can be made by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI and its associates banks or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

Registration is in two parts. Part-I registration and Part-II registration. After Part-I registration, candidates are required to submit fee of Rs.200/- (Not applicable for SC/ST and Female candidates). After submitting fee either in cash or through Online system; candidates should go for Part-II registration.
Candidates should carefully fill the application form mentioning his/her choice of Examination centre and Fee details , if applicable.
Candidates should mention their valid email id since all correspondence will be made through emails only. Before filling the online form; candidates should keep ready the scan image of their passport size photograph and scan image of their signature for uploading while registration.


After submitting the Part-II registration form; a system generated application form will appear on te screen. Candidates should print-out it and retain safely. There is no need to send any documents/ form to UPSC.

Last Date of Online Application: The submission of Online Application can be made within and on 27th August 2012 (till midnight).
