For various works purpose in various divisions of West Bengal Governments’; the recruitment of some hundreds of Boys and Girls is going on for the post of “Assistant Engineer (Civil)”. Actual No. of vacant posts will be known later. The required qualification and age limit is given below—
Post: Assistant Engineer (Civil)
Qualification: Candidates with Degree course in Civil Engineering may apply for the post. Experience of one years in Post Graduate Practical Training/ Study/ Research/ Practical Engineering is desirable.
Age of the candidates should be within 32 yrs as on 1-1-2011. Age relaxation for SC/ST-5yrs, OBC-3yrs, PH-13yrs and Ex-Serviceman- as per govt. norms. Candidates residing outside West Bengal should apply as General Candidates.
Pay Scale— Rs.9000 to Rs.40500 and Grade Pay- Rs.5400
Job will be in any one of the following divisions of West Bengal Government—
1. West Bengal Service of Engineers (Under Public Works Department- PWD)
2. West Bengal Service of Engineers (Irrigation) (Under department of Irrigation and Waterways )
3. West Bengal Public Health Engineering Service (Civil) (Under department of Public Health Engineering)
4. West Bengal Service of Engineers (Municipal Engineering) (Under department of Municipal Affairs)
5. West Bengal Service of Engineers (Civil) (under division of Panchayat and Rural Development)
Selection of Candidates—Candidates will be selected through Written Test, Assistant Engineer (Civil) Recruitment Examination-2011, carried by West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC).
First written test or be held on the month of February. In this exam there will be 200 marks of 100 objective multiple-choice type questions. Each question will be of two marks, time allotted-two hours.

How to apply: Application can be prepared on the plain paper (32×21 cm) as per given format. Application format is available on the above mentioned website. Along with the filled application, enclose the following documents –
- Two copies of recent passport size photograph (one copy pasted on the application form and other copy should be kept carefully for later use in the admit card)
- Two self-address (mention father name) envelope without any postal stamp.
- Self attested copies of certificates of all educational and age proof documents.
- Caste certificate
- Experience Certificate, if any
- Cross Postal Order/Treasury Challan of Rs. 210 in the favour of – “The Secretary, Public Service Commission, West Bengal” and payable at – “Kolkata”. Treasury challan is available from Government Treasury or from Reserve Bank in the title of—“0051-00-105- State PSC Examination fee-001-Examination Fee-16 other fees”. SC/ST and PH (if above 40%) requires no fee.
