Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) requires 198 Assistant, Jr.Translotor, Lower Division Clerk & Tech. Assistant (LAB). Last Dt. 24/05/2013

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), under Department of Consumer Affairs, is recruiting 198 Assistant, Jr. Translator, Lower Division Clerk, Jr. Stenographer and Technical Assistant (LAB — Mechanical/ Electrical/ Microbiology). Eligible candidates may apply online from the official website BIS. Qualification norms and criteria in brief is given below —

BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS, NEW DELHI REQUIRES 198 ASSISTANT, JR. TRANSLATOR, LOWER DIVISION CLERK, JR.STENOGRAPHER AND TECHNICAL ASST. ADVERTISEMENT NO. 01/2013/Estt (B&C). APPLY ONLINE WITHIN 24.05.2013

1. Assistant: 17 Nos. (Gen—3; SC—2; ST—8; OBC—4). Out of total—1nos. PH candidate.
Qualification: Degree from a recognized University.
Pay Scale: Rs.9300—34800 and Grade pay: Rs.4200.

2. Junior translator (Hindi): 2 Nos. (OBC)
Qualification: Master Degree or equivalent (in Hindi/ English medium or with Hindi/ English as a subject at degree level).  Diploma/Certificate course in translation or 2 years’ experience of technical translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa preferably of technical or scientific literature.
Pay Scale: Rs.9300—34800 and Grade pay: Rs.4200.

3. Lower Division Clerk: 46 Nos. (Gen—25; SC—6; ST—4; OBC—11). Out of total—2nos. PH and 5nos. Ex-serviceman.
Qualification: Graduate with one year Diploma / Certificate course in Computer. English typing speed of 30 words per minute or Hindi typing speed of 25 words per minute.
Pay Scale: Rs.5200—20200 and Grade pay: Rs.1900

4. Junior Stenographer: 21 Nos. (Gen—11; sC—2; sT—2; OBC—6). Out of total—1nos. PH and 5nos. Ex-serviceman.
Qualification: Graduate with One Year Diploma/Certificate in Computers and Shorthand speed of 80 words per minute in English or in Hindi
Pay Scale: Rs.5200—20200 and Grade pay: Rs.2400

5. Stenographer: 15 Nos. (Gen—5; SC—4; ST—5; OBC—1). Out of total—1nos. PH candidate.
Qualification: Degree from recognized University and shorthand skill test at 100 words per minute for seven minutes which the candidates shall be required to transcribe in 45 minutes (English dictation) and in 60 minutes (Hindi dictation) and knowledge of Computer.
Pay Scale: Rs. 9300—34800 and Grade pay: Rs.4200

6. Technical Assistant (Laboratory): 97 Nos. (Gen—49; SC—14; ST—7; OBC—27). Out of total—2nos. PH candidates.
Distribution of vacancies according to Discipline wise—
Chemical: 33 Nos.
Mechanical: 35 Nos.
Electrical: 22 Nos.
Microbiology: 7 Nos.
Pay Scale: Rs. 9300—34800 and Grade pay: Rs.4200
Qualification for Technical Assistant (Lab) as per discipline wise were as follows: — 
Technical Asst. (Lab—Chemical): Bachelor’s Degree in Science (with Chemistry as one of the main subject) with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST ) OR Three years Diploma in Chemical Engg. with minimum 60% marks (50% marks for SC/ST)
Technical Asst. (Lab—Mechanical): 3yrs Diploma in Mechanical Engg. with minimum 60% marks (50% marks for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes)
Technical Asst. (Lab—Electrical): 3yrs Diploma in Electrical Engg. with minimum 60% marks (50% marks for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes)
Technical Asst. (Lab – Microbiology): Bachelor’s Degree in Science (with Microbiology / Bio-Technology as one of the main subject) with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST) OR Three years Diploma in Agricultural Engineering / Food Technology with minimum 60% marks (50% marks for SC/ST)

Age Limits: between 18yrs to 27yrs for all posts except for the post of Assistant & Stenographer — between 18yrs to 30yrs. Age will counted as on 31.03.2013. Upper age relaxation for SC/ST- 5yrs; OBC- 3yrs; PWD- 10yrs; Ex-Serviceman & any other Categories – As per Govt. norms.

How to Apply: Eligible and Interested candidates may apply Online from the official website of Bureau of Indian Standards — www.bis.org.in (live URL to the Application form is given below)

Application fee: Rs.350/- for the posts of Junior Stenographer and Lower Dvision Clerk AND Rs.500/- for rest of posts. Candidates must pay Rs.35/- additionally as bank’s transaction charge.
SC/ST/PWD and Women candidates are exempted for Application fee.

Online Application form is to be submitted in two steps. After Step-1, candidates will require to make the Application fee and will have to upload their scan copy of passport size photograph and signature.
After final process of Step-2 of the application, the system will generated the submitted Application form with unique registration number. Candidates must print-out it and retain safely for future use.
There is no need to send any application to anywhere. (Refer the Advt. link given below for details)

Last Date of Application: Candidates may submit the Part-I Application form within 17th May 2013 (midnight). The Part-II Application form can be submitted on or before 24th May 2013.

  1. I don’t have any diploma/certificate course in computer.. I am a graduate and I studied modern computer application in my higher secondary level, both in 11 and 12 standards.. So am I eligible for the post of lower division clerk as I studied computer application as one of the subjects in H.S.??
