The High Court at Calcutta, Appellate Side, is recruiting 70 candidates (expected vacancies) in Groups-D posts — Farash/Peon/Orderly/Barkandaz/Darwan/Night Guard/Cleaner, in the Original Side & Appellate Side Establishment, High Court at Calcutta & West Bengal Judicial Academy, Kolkata. The engagement will be on temporary basis but is likely to be made permanent. Employment Notice No. 76-RG. Qualification norms and eligibility criteria in brief are given below —

THE HIGH COURT AT CALCUTTA, KOLKATA REQUIRES 70 CANDIDATES FOR GROUP-D POSTS. LAST DATE – 01/03/2014

GROUP – D (Viz. — Farash/Peon/Orderly/Barkandaz/Darwan/Night Guard/Cleaner)
Number of Vacancies: 70 Nos. (Gen—35; SC—15; ST—7; OBC—13). Reservation of vacancies is also there for EC, Ex-Servicemen, PWD and Sportsperson.

Educational Qualification: Must have passed Class-VIII (Eight pass). Candidates must have knowledge of reading and writing in Bengali and English.
Graduate pass candidates are not eligible to apply. Applications of such candidates will be summarily rejected.

Age Limit: less than 18 years and not more than 40 years as on 01/01/2014. Upper age limit is relaxable by 03 years for OBC and 5 years in case of S.C. and S.T. candidates of West Bengal and in case of Physically Handicapped candidates.

Pay Scale: Rs.4900 — 16200 and Grade Pay: Rs.1700/-  plus other allowances as per norms.

The appointment will initially be made on purely temporary basis but is likely to be made permanent in the Original Side & Appellate Side Establishment, High Court at Calcutta & West Bengal Judicial Academy, Kolkata

NB: The SC/ST/OBC candidates of other States shall be treated as General Candidates.

Selection Steps: Eligible candidates will have to undergo a competitive written test consisting of a multiple choice objective-type paper comprising of questions in Arithmetic, General Knowledge, General Intelligence and English, with full marks of 100. Candidates selected and short listed in order of merit, shall be required to appear at a further test for selection.
Admit cards containing Venue, Date and Time of the Test will be sent to the eligible candidates in due course.

How to Apply: Interested and eligible candidates may submit neatly hand-written or typed applications with self attested copies of certificates and testimonials etc.
Each application must be accompanied by :- (1) Two recent and identical passport size photographs (one to be pasted on the top right hand corner of the application and the other to be stitched/stapled with the application); (2) Self attested documents in support of date of birth, educational qualifications, Other Qualification, if any, Caste and specific claim for other merit and disabilities etc. (in case of the candidates belonging to S.C./ S.T./ O.B.C./ E.C./Ex-Serviceman/Meritorious Sports Person/Person with Disabilities); (3) One self-addressed envelope of the size of 25 cm x 11 cm with postal stamp of Rs. 5/- affixed thereon; (4) Office copy of Bank Challan to be enclosed with the application.

Processing Fee: Candidates willing to apply must deposit the Fee of Rs.212/- (including Bank charge of Rs.12/-) through any branch of United Bank of India by means of Bank Challan. Candidates may download the Bank’s challan from the official website of the court (see PDF file below).
SC/ST candidates of West Bengal shall pay Rs.62/ – (including Bank Charges) as Processing Fee.

Superscribe the name of the post applied in bold letters on the top of the application containing envelope.

  2. I have done the graduation from Distance, H.S. Passed, can i apply for the above post if i not shown my graduation certificate though it is done in distance. Pls tell me…..
