Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) invites online application for 102 posts of Combined Geo-Scientist Examination, 2020. On the basis of the result of Combined Geo-Scientist Examination, 2020 the candidates will be selected for various Group ‘A’ posts mentioned below. The appointments will be made on a Temporary basis in the first instance. UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (UPSC) INVITES ONLINE APPLICATION FOR 102 COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST EXAMINATION, 2020. LAST DATE — 15/10/2019

 

COMBINED GEO-SCIENTIST EXAMINATION, 2020

Total Vacancies: 102 Nos.

 

The categories of post to which recruitment is to be made on the results of Combined Geo-Scientist Examination, 2020 and the approximate number of vacancies in the various posts are as follows:-
A. Category-I: (Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines).

i) Geologist, Group A: 79 posts
ii) Geophysicist, Group A: 05 posts
iii) Chemist, Group A: 15 posts

B. Category-II: (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources).

i) Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B), Group A: 03 posts

 

Educational Qualification:

i) For Geologists Gr ‘A’:- Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resources Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or Geophysical Technology from a recognized University or Institution.

ii) For Geophysicists Gr ‘A’:- M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a recognized University or Institute.

iii) For Chemists Gr ‘A’:- M.Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a recognized University or Institute.

iv) For Junior Hydrgeologists (Scientist B), Group ‘A’:- (a) Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a recognized University or Institute. OR (b) Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognized University.

 

Age Limit: Minimum 21 years and below 32 years (below 35 years for Junior Hydrogeologists (Scientist B)) as on 01/01/2020.

 

Upper Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST, 03 years for OBC and 10 years for PWD category. Ex-Serviceman & Others, if any — As per Govt. norms.

 

On the basis of the result of Combined Geo-Scientist Examination, 2020 the candidates will be selected for various Group ‘A’ posts. For more details please see the Official Advt.

The appointments will be made on a Temporary basis in the first instance.

 

Candidates’ Selection: Selection of candidates will be through Computer Based Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Personality Test/ Interview. The Computer Based Preliminary Examination will be held on 19th January, 2020. The Main Examination will be held on 27th & 28th June, 2020. The examinations will be held at various centres across India. For details please see the Official Advt.

Application Fee: Candidates must pay Application Fee of Rs. 200/-. Fee can be paid through Online mode during submission of online application form by using Debit/Credit card or Net banking OR can be paid through Bank by means of fee payment Challan. Fee Challan can be downloaded from the official website of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). See released advertisement for more details.

NO APPLICATION FEE REQUIRED IN CASE OF FEMALE/SC/ST/PWD CANDIDATES.

 

How to Apply: Interested and eligible candidates may apply online only through the official website of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) — https://upsc.gov.in (See Application form’s link given below) from dated 25/09/2019 to 15/10/2019.

Upon successful payment of prescribed fee and submission of online application form, the system generated Registration/ Acknowledgement Slip will appear on the computer screen. Candidates must print-out it for future correspondence. DO NOT SEND ANY PRINT-OUT/HARD COPY OR DOCUMENTS TO UNION PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (UPSC) AT THIS STAGE. All the verification will be done in due course.
