Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), under Ministry of Home Affairs, is recruiting 1514 persons for post of “Constable (Tradesmen)”—2012 in trades of – Cook, Washer man, Barber, Safaiwala, Water Carrier, Waiter, Carpenter, Painter, Tailor, Cobbler and Gardener. The posts were in Group ‘C’ Combatised, Non-Gazetted (Non-Ministerial). The posts were temporary but likely to become permanent. Brief details on qualification and other criteria is given below—
CONSTABLE (TRADESMEN) IN SASHASTRA SEEMA BAL IN TRADES OF —
1. Constable (Cook): 490 Nos. (Gen—223; SC—66; ST—33; OBC—119). Out of them Ex-Serviceman—49 Nos.
2. Constable (Washer man): 367 Nos. (Gen—142; SC—50; ST—50; OBC—89). Out of them Ex-Serviceman—36 Nos.
3. Constable (Barber): 38 Nos. (SC—5; ST—21; OBC—9). Out of them Ex-Serviceman—3 Nos.
4. Constable (Safaiwala): 262 Nos. (Gen—99; SC—35; ST—38; OBC—64). Out of them Ex-Serviceman— 26 Nos.
5. Constable (Water Carrier): 211 Nos. (Gen—96; SC—29; ST—14; OBC—51). Out of them Ex-Serviceman— 21 Nos.
6. Constable (Waiter): 42 Nos. (Gen—19; SC—6; ST—3; OBC—10). Out of them Ex-Serviceman— 04 Nos.
7. Constable (Carpenter): 27 Nos. (Gen—14; SC—6; ST—4). Out of them Ex-Serviceman— 3nos.
8. Constable (Painter): 23 Nos. (Gen—13; SC—4; ST—0; OBC—4). Out of them Ex-Serviceman—2 Nos.
9. Constable (Tailor): 19 Nos. (Gen—5; SC—4; ST—4; OBC—4). Out of them Ex-Serviceman— 2 Nos.
10. Constable (Cobbler): 37 Nos. (Gen—11; SC—3; ST—5; OBC—14). Out of them Ex-Serviceman— 4 Nos.
11. Constable (Gardener): 8 Nos. (Gen—4; SC—1; ST—2; OBC—1). Out of them Ex-Serviceman— 00.
Qualification Required: — Madhyamik (class-10) or equivalent with two years of work experience in respective trade mentioned above
OR
One year of certificate course from in respective trade from ITI or Vocational Institute with at least one year of work experience.
OR
Two years of Diploma course from I.T.I. on respective trade or similar trade.
Age: between 18yrs to 23yrs. Relaxation for OBC—3yrs, SC/ST—5yrs. Ex-Serviceman and Others—as per norms.
Pay Scale: Rs.5200—Rs.20200 and Grade pay—Rs.2000 per month.
Physical Standards: —
Height: 167.5 cms (162.5 cms for ST and 165 cms for hilly region candidates)
Chest (unexpanded/ expanded): 78cms/ 83 cms (76/81 cms for ST and 78/ 83cms for Hilly region candidates).
Weight (For all categories): proportional to Height and Weight as per medical standard.
Eye Sight (For all categories): 6/6/ and 6/9 of two eyes, without wearing glasses, in minimum distant vision.
Candidates should have sound health and free from any defects which may hinder in the performance of duty.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): —
1. Race of 1 KM to be completed in 6 minutes
2. Long Jump of 11 feet in 3 chances
3. High Jump of 3.5 feet in 3 chances.
Selection Steps: Selection of candidates will be through— (i) Documents verification, (ii) Physical Measurement, (iii) PET, (iv) Written Test, (v) Trade Test and (vi) Medical Examination.
The candidates who qualify Physical Measurement Test and PET will appear in written examination on OMR based Answer Sheets which will comprise 100 multiple choice objective type questions of 100 marks with 2(two) hours duration. The question paper will be set to assess the — General
Awareness, General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, Analytical Aptitude and Basic Knowledge of the candidate in English/Hindi.
Qualified candidates from Written Test will go for Trade Test. Trade test will be qualifying in nature. Candidates should brings their own tools/ material for attending Trade Test.
Finally there will Medical fitness test.
N.B: No Call Letter or Admit card will be issued to the eligible candidates for Written Test or same. All the shortlisted candidates name will be displayed on the notice board at the recruitment venue as well as will be available on the official website of SSB Recruitment — http://www.ssbrectt.gov.in. No application fee required for SC/ST and Ex-SErv.

- Domicile Certificate issued by local revenue authorities for verification of citizenship.

- Two self addressed envelopes of 4”x9” size with Rs.25/- postage stamps affixed on each envelope.
- IPO or Bank Draft as Application fee
- 2 Nos. passport size photographs attested by Gazetted officer and pasted on Application form (candidates should keep 2 similar attested photographs with them for use during documents verification)
