RECRUITMENT FOR POST OF CONSTABLE/LADY CONSTABLE IN KOLKATA POLICE.
As per Advt.No.01/2012/KPRB, Kolkata Police is recruiting 3000 Constable –
Constable: 2500 Nos. Reservation as per govt. norms
Lady Constable: 50 Nos. Reservation as per norms.

Required Qualification: Madhyamik pass from board of WBBSE or its equivalent.
Age limit: between 18yrs to 27yrs as on 01.01.2012. age relaxation for OBC- 3yrs and SC/ST-5yrs
Physical Standard:-
For the post of Constable : Height – 167 cms., Chest – 78 cms. with minimum expansion of 5 cms. by  inhalation, Weight – Proportionate to height and age.
Relaxation in Physical eligibility for the post of Constable will be given to GORKHAS, GARWALIS, RAJBANSIS and ST is as following:‐ Height – 160 cms, Minimum Chest – 76 cms. with minimum Expansion of 5 cms. by inhalation, Weight – proportionate to height and age.
For the post of Lady Constable:- Height – 160 cms, Weight ‐ Proportionate to height and age.
Relaxation in Physical eligibility for the post of Lady Constable will be given to GORKHAS, GARWALIS, RAJBANSIS and ST is as following:‐ Height – 152 cms, Weight ‐ Proportionate to height and age.
Health: Candidate must possess sound health physically and mentally.

Selection Steps: Candidates will be selected through Physical Measurement Test, Physical Efficiency Test, Written Test and then Interview.
Physical Efficiency Test will be of—
For Male: Race of 1600 meters within 6 mins 30 secs.
For Female: Race of 400 meters within 2 minutes.
Selected candidates will be called for Written test. The Written Test will be of Objective types questions on – Current Affairs, General knowledge, Basic English, Elementary Mathematics and Analytical Aptitude in multiple choice answer system. Full marks of the Written Test will be 90 and allotted time will be 90 minutes. There will be negative markings for wrong answers.
Candidates qualified from written test will be called for Interview and then Medical Examination.

RECRUITMENT FOR POST OF SUB-INSPECTOR/ LADY SUB-INSPECTOR & SERGEANT in KOLKATA POLICE.
As per Advt.No.03/2012/KPRB (ORC), Kolkata Police is recruiting the below post through competitive examination to be held at Kolkata. The recruitment will be initially on temporary basis.

1. Sub-Inspector (Male): 137 Nos.
Qualification: Bachelor Degree, in any disciplines, from recognised institute and should have ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required in the case of Nepali speaking candidates from hill areas of the District of Darjeeling).
Physical Standard: Height – 1.67 mtr. Weight– 51.5 kgs., Chest: Minimum 79 cms after exhalation and minimum expansion of 5 cm after inhalation (expansion), Vision-according to Health Manual.

2. Sub-Inspector (Female): 15 Nos.
Qualification: same as above.
Physical Standard: Height – 1.60 mtrs., Weight– 45 kgs., Vision-according to Health Manual.

3. Sergeant: 684 Nos.
Qualification: same as above
Physical Standard: Height – 1.73 mtrs., Weight– 63 kgs., Chest: Minimum 86.36 cms after exhalation and Minimum expansion of 5 cms after inhalation (expansion); Vision-according to Health Manual.

Age limit for above 3 posts: Between 20yrs to 27yrs i.e. date of birth should be within 2-01-1985 to -01-01-1992. Age relaxation for SC/ST-5yrs; OBC-3yrs. Departmental candidates will receive as per norms. SC/ST/OBC candidates from out West Bengal will be treated as general candidates.

Salary: Rs. 7100 – 37600 + Grade Pay Rs. 3900 and other admissible allowances.
NB: Female candidates should not apply for the post of “Sergeant”. PH candidates are not eligible to apply for any above mention posts. From total numbers of vacancies some of the posts were reserved for SC/ST and OBC candidates.

Selection of candidates: Candidate will be selected through Physical Measurement, Written Examination and Personality Test.
Written Test will be on 3 papers— Paper – I English, General Studies and Arithmetic carrying a total of 100 marks. This paper will consist of multiple-choice objective type questions on English (20 Marks), General Studies (40 Marks) and Arithmetic (40 Marks) and will be of one and half hour (1 ½) hrs. duration. Paper – II English  (Conventional Type). Paper – III Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali (Conventional Type). Paper – II and Paper – III will carry 50 Marks each.
PERSONALITY TEST – The Personality Test will carry 50 Marks.

RECRUITMENT FOR THE POST OF POLICE DRIVER IN KOLKATA POLICE
As per Advt.No.02/2012/KPRB, Kolkata Police is recruiting 300 Police Driver—

Police Driver: 300 Nos. (Reservation as per norms)
Qualification: Must have passed class-VIII from the school recognised by Govt. of West Bengal.
Candidate should have valid Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence.
Age: Within 18yrs to 27yrs as on 1-1-2012. Age relaxation for OBC-3yrs, SC/ST-5yrs.
Physical Standard:-
For Bangali Candidates: Height – 167 cms, Weight – 54.5 Kgs, Chest ‐ 78 cms. with minimum expansion of 5 cm by inhalation
For GORKHAS, GARWALIS, RAJBANSIS and ST :‐ Height – 160 cms, Weight – 52 Kgs, Chest  ‐ 82 cms. with minimum expansion of 5 cm by inhalation
For Others:‐  Height – 170 cms, Weight – 54.5 Kgs, Chest ‐ 81 cms with minimum expansion of 5 cm by  inhalation
All candidates should possess sound health mentally and physically.

Selection Steps: For candidates selection there will be Physical Measurement Test, Physical Efficiency Test and Interview.
Physical Efficiency Test will be of – (a) 100 mts. Run to be completed within 14.5 seconds, (b) 800 mts. Run to be completed within 02minutes and 50 seconds and (c)  Long Jump for a minimum distance of 4.57 mts.
Qualified candidates from Physical Efficiency Test will be called for Interview. Interview will consist of Driving Test (40 marks), Mechanical Test (30 marks), Reading and Writing Test and General Knowledge (30 marks). Pass marks will be 50% of the total marks of Interview.
The questions on General Knowledge & Current Affairs will be asked in the Interview. Reading and Writing Test preferably on vernacular and/or English will also be taken.
Finally selected candidates will have to go through Medical Examination and then Training. After successful completion of the training, final appointment will be given to the candidates.
