Recruitment of 374 Boys as Head Constable and Sub Inspector in BSF is going on. Madhyamik pass candidates with ITI or equivalent can apply for the post. Only male from SC/ST and OBC can apply for the post.
Directorate General Border Security Force (Communication and IT Directorate) (Communication Wing) Special Recruitment Drive for Recruitment of OBC/SC/ST Candidates as Head Constable (Radio Operator/Fitter) and Assistant Sub Inspector (Radio Mechanic) in BSF Communication set up March 2011.

1. Name of the post: Head Constable (Radio operator)
No. of posts: 322 (SC-121; ST-63; OBC-138)
Qualification: Madhyamik Pass (Matriculation) or its equivalent with 2yrs ITI Certificate in Radio and TV or Electronics or Intermediate OR 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics from a recognized Board or Institution
Age Limit: 18-23yrs as on 26.2.2011 (Relaxable age for OBC: 3yrs; SC/ST: 5yrs)
Pay Scale: Rs. 5200-20200 Per month, Grade Pay: Rs.2400 per month.

2. Name of Post: Head Constable (Fitter)
No. of Vacancies:  7 posts (OBC- 5; SC-2 )
Qualification: Madhyamik Pass (Matriculation) or equivalent from a recognized board or institution and two years ITI Certificate in Engine Fitter or Diesel Mechanic or Automobile or Motor Mechanic from and Institution recognized by State or Central government or Intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized Board or Institution.
Age Limit: 18-23yrs as on 26.2.2011 (Relaxable age for OBC: 3yrs; SC/ST: 5yrs)
Pay Scale: Rs. 5200-20200 Per month, Grade Pay: Rs.2400 pm

3. Name of Post: Assistant Sub Inspector (Radio Mechanic)
Name of Vacancies: 45 (SC-17; ST-10; OBC-18)
Qualification: Matric with Diploma in Radio and TV Technology or Electronics or Telecommunication or Computer or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Domestic Appliances from any institution recognized by the State Government or Central Government OR 10+2 or Intermediate or equivalent with aggregate marks of 50% with selective subjects being Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized Board or Institutions.
Age Limit: 18-25 yrs as on 26.2.2011 (Relaxable age for OBC: 3yrs; SC/ST: 5yrs)
Pay Scale: Rs. 5200-20200 Per month, Grade Pay: Rs.2800 pm
Physical Standard in case of all above mentioned posts:
Height : 170 cms
Chest: Unexpanded-80cms and Expanded-85 cms
Weight: Corresponding to height.

N.B: For the candidates falling in the categories of Garhwalies, Kumaonese, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates belonging to the states of Sikkim, Nagaland, Auranchal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and Leh and Ladakh regions of J &K the Height should be 165 cms and Chest should be 76 cms with minimum 5 cm expansion.
For Scheduled Tribes/Adivasis or Tribals including Mizos and Nagas, the Height should be 162.5 cm and Chest should be 76 cms with minimum 5 cms expansion.

Medical Standard for the candidates applying for any above posts:
(i) Minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of the both eyes without any glass
(ii) Must not have Flat feet, Knock knee, squint in eyes, in short candidates should be well built without any defects/deformity which may interfere with the efficient performances of the duties.
(iii) Candidates should pass high-grade colour vision test.

Selection Procedure: The selection for the candidates will be taken in two phases.
First phase: Written test of 200 marks which will consist of the following parts- (I) Physics of 60 marks, (II) Mathematics of 60 marks, (III) Chemistry of 30 marks and (IV) English and GK of 50 marks. Syllabus will be taken from 10+2 of CBSC or State Board of education.
The selected candidates from the written test will be call for Second Phase.

Second Phase: (1) Preliminary screening: Physical Efficiency Test which will consist of  (i) 1.6 Km race in 6.5 minutes, (ii) Long jump of 3.65 mtrs and (iii) High Jump of 1.2 mtrs within 3 chances.
(2) Dictation Test (In English) for HC/RO post only of 10 marks
(3) Verification of Original documents
(4) Personal Interview of 25 marks.
(5) Medical Exammination by BSF Medical Officer.

Application fee: Candidates from OBC should enclose Crossed Bank Draft/ Indian Postal Order of Rs. 50 as the examination fee in favour of the Inspector General or DIG/Comdt. and payable at respective SBI/post office (please see official website for more details on centers addresses). No fee required for SC/ST candidates.

The candidates should enclose the following documents along with Application form prepared as per given format. All the documents should be in Xerox copies and duly attested by Gazetted Officer.

  • Education certificate and Admit card for Age verification
  • 3 nos. recent passport size photograph, one should be affixed on application form, one should be affixed on Admit card and other should be enclosed with application form. All the copies of photograph should be duly attested.
  • Caste certificate. OBC candidates should submit the Declaration form.
  • 2 self addressed (In Block letters) envelope with affix postal stamp of Rs 27 on each.
  • Candidates applying for physical measurement relaxation should give attested copies of certificate issued by Sub-divisional level revenue officer or his comparison officer’s issued domicile certificate.
  • Ex-serviceman should enclose discharge certificate.
