Indian Statistical Institute Admission 2026: Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility criteria vary by programme. Below are the minimum requirements for some of the key programmes.
- B Stat (Hons) / B Math (Hons): Must have successfully completed 10+2 years of Higher Secondary Education (or equivalent) with Mathematics and English as subjects.
- B SDS (Hons): Must have completed 10+2 in 2025 or 2026 with Mathematics/Applied Mathematics and English, and at least 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwBD).
- M Stat / M Math / MS (QE): Must have a Bachelor’s degree of three or more years’ duration in any discipline.
- M Tech (CS): Must have a four-year B.E./B.Tech (or equivalent) degree in any stream, OR a master’s degree in any subject with Mathematics at the 10+2 level.
- JRF in Statistics: Must have an M Stat/ M Math degree from ISI, OR an MA/MSc or equivalent degree in Statistics.

ISI Admission 2026: Selection Process
The selection process for most programmes consists of a written admission test followed by an interview (where applicable). The ISI Admission Test for 2026 is scheduled for 10th May 2026.
- Written Test: The test will be conducted in a multiple-choice question (MCQ) and descriptive format, covering subjects like Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, and Computer Science, depending on the programme.
- Interview: Candidates shortlisted based on their written test performance will be called for an interview.
- Parallel Channels: Some programmes, such as M Tech (CS) and M Tech (CrS), also have a GATE channel for admission, where selection is based on GATE scores and an interview.
The admission test will be held across 50 cities in India, including Agartala, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune.
ISI Admission 2026: Exam Pattern (Non-JRF Programmes)
