Jadavpur University PhD Selection Process 2026
The selection process is based on the candidate’s performance in the national-level exam (if applicable), a Written Entrance Test (WRET) conducted by the university, and an interview.
Exemption from WRET: Candidates who have qualified in UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/GATE/GPAT/CEED/DST-INSPIRE/VISVESVARAYA/DBT or similar national-level tests are exempted from the university’s Written Entrance Test (WRET).
Written Entrance Test (WRET): Candidates without a valid national-level fellowship must appear for the WRET.
- The paper consists of 50% Research Methodology and 50% Subject-Specific topics.
- Qualifying marks are 50% for General category (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD).
Interview/Viva-Voce: All eligible candidates (both WRET-qualified and fellowship holders) must appear for an interview.

Pay the Fee Online: Visit the SBI Collect payment link provided in the notification and pay the application fee of Rs. 500/- per department. Download the payment receipt.
Fill the Online Form: Go to the university admission portal (admissionju.jadavpuruniversity.in/fengadmission/home) and fill in the online application form with all required details.
Submit Hard Copy: Take a printout of the duly filled application form. Attach the following documents:
- Photocopy of the online payment receipt.
- Self-attested photocopies of mark sheets and certificates (10th, 12th, Graduation, Post-Graduation).
- Copy of Aadhaar Card.
- Copies of NET/GATE/other fellowship certificates (if applicable).
