Creating and Showing Results for Exams with Multiple Sessions
JEE Main is held in two attempts. Here’s how we deal with the results:
Results for the First Attempt: In this attempt, the exam happens in different sessions. NTA (National Testing Agency) calculates scores based on each session’s raw marks. Then, they combine these scores to announce the result. This result includes NTA scores for each subject (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) and the total score for the first attempt.
Results for the Second Attempt: It also has multiple sessions, and NTA calculates scores similarly. Again, they merge these scores to declare the result, showing NTA scores for each subject and the total for the second attempt.
Merging Results and Making Rankings: To create an overall merit list or ranking, NTA combines the four NTA scores from each candidate’s first and second attempts. If someone took both attempts, only their best score is considered. For example, if a candidate’s NTA scores from the first attempt were different from their second attempt, the higher score is used for ranking. This way, fairness is ensured.
