Earth System Science Organization (ESSO), National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), Noida, is inviting application from the eligible candidates for 20 posts of Junior Research Fellow (JRF). The vacancies are for different programmes, namely “Numerical Modelling of Weather and Climate” and “Monsoon Mission-Phase-II”. The candidates will be appointed on Contractual basis initially for a period upto March 2020 and extendable further subject to satisfactory performance of the candidates. NATIONAL CENTRE FOR MEDIUM RANGE WEATHER FORECASTING (NCMRWF) IS INVITING APPLICATION FOR 20 POSTS OF JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF). LAST DATE — 01.07.2018

 

JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW (JRF)
No. of Vacancies: 20 Nos. (Numerical Modelling of atmosphere: 04, Data assimilation: 04, Ensemble Prediction: 02, Coupled Modelling: 05, Ocean Initialisation: 05)

 

Educational Qualification: i) Post Graduate degree in Physical Sciences (Physics/ Applied Physics/ Atmospheric Sciences/ Meteorology/ Oceanography/ Geophysics with Meteorology as one of the subjects/ Climate Science or equivalent subjects) or Mathematical Sciences (Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics/ Statistics or equivalent subjects)
OR
Post Graduate / Graduate degree in Engineering (Civil/ Mechanical/ Computer Science)

 

ii) Candidates should have qualified NET or either of the examinations listed below:

a. CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test including NET-Lecturership
b. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by MHRD
c. Joint Admission Test (JAM) conducted by MHRD
d. Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST)

iii) Candidates should have studied Physics and Mathematics at Graduation level.

iv) Candidates should have minimum 60% aggregate mark (55% aggregate marks) in the qualifying examination.

 

Desirable:

i) Good knowledge in computer programming(Fortran/C/Python etc.) and Linux/UNIX (shell scripts).
ii) Familiarisation with numerical weather prediction and related fields.

 

Age Limit: Maximum 28 years as on 01.07.2018

 

Consolidated Pay: Rs.25,000/- per month.

 

The vacancies are for different programmes, namely “Numerical Modelling of Weather and Climate” and “Monsoon Mission-Phase-II”. Upper Age Relaxation: Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST, 03 years for OBC and 10 years for PWD category. Ex-Serviceman & Others, if any — As per Govt. norms.

 

Candidates’ Selection: Selection of candidates will be through Interview. Tentative date of interview is in August/ September 2018.
