Indian Army invites online application for 152 posts of Junior Commissioned Officer (Religious Teacher). The vacancies are for RRT 88, 89 and 90 courses. The Religious Teachers will preach religious scriptures to troops and conduct various rituals at Regimental/ Unit religious Institutions. JUNIOR COMMISSIONED OFFICER (RELIGIOUS TEACHER)

No. of Vacancies: 152 Nos.

Category wise vacancies:

i) Pandit: 118 posts
ii) Pandit (Gorkha) for Gorkha Regiments: 07 posts (for Hindu (Gorkha) candidates only)
iii) Granthi: 09 posts
iv) Maulvi (Sunni): 09 posts
v) Maulvi (Shia) for Ladakh Scouts: 01 posts (for Ladakhi Muslim Shia candidates only)
vi) Padre: 04 posts
vii) Bodh Monk (Mahayana) for Ladakh Scouts: 04 posts

 

Educational Qualification: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University. In addition, candidate must possess following qualification according to the religious denomination of the individual:-
i) For Pandit and Pandit (Gorkha) for Gorkha Regiment: Hindu candidates with Acharya in Sanskrit.
OR
Shastri in Sanskrit with one-year Diploma in ‘Karam Kand’.
ii) For Granthi: Sikh candidates with ‘Gyani’ in Punjabi.
iii) For Maulvi and Maulvi (Shia) for Ladakh Scouts: Muslim candidates with Maulvi Alim in Arabic or Adib Alim in Urdu.
iv) For Padre: Any person who have been ordained priesthood by the appropriate ecclesiastical authority and is still on the approved list of the local Bishop.
v) For Bodh Monk (Mahayana): Any person who have been ordained Monk/ Buddhist Priest, by the Appropriate Authority. The term Appropriate Authority will mean Head Priest of the Monastery where the person has been initiated into priesthood. The head priest should be in possession of Geshe (PhD) of Khampa or Lopon or Rabjam with proper certificate from Monastery.

 

Age Limit: Minimum 25 years and maximum 34 years as on 01/10/2020.

 

The vacancies are for RRT 88, 89 and 90 courses. The Religious Teachers will preach religious scriptures to troops and conduct various rituals at Regimental/ Unit religious Institutions.


Note:
Only Male candidates are eligible to apply.

The selected candidates will undergo 06 weeks of Basic Training at BEG and Centre, Kirkee followed by 11 weeks of training specific to religious denominations as applied by the candidates at Institute of National Integration (INI), Pune.

 

Physical Standards:
(i) Male Candidates: Height — 160 cms; Chest (unexpanded) — 77 cms; Chest (expanded) — 82 cms; Weight — 50 kgs
Cut-off in Physical Standards: For candidates belonging to certain categories/ communities or of certain States/Areas; the cut-off in such candidate’s Height/ Chest’s measurement will be as per Govt. norms. Please see officially released advertisement for more details.

Candidates must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.

 

Candidates’ Selection: Selection of candidates will be through Document Verification, Physical Fitness Test, Medical Examination, Written Examination and Interview. The Written Examination will be conducted on 23rd February 2020. Interview will be conducted at 1 ASC Trg Centre, Bangalore and 39 GTC, Varanasi as applicable.

How to Apply: Interested and eligible candidates may apply online only through the official website of Indian Army — www.joinindianarmy.nic.in (See Application form’s link given below) from dated 30/09/2019 to 29/10/2019.

Note: Only Civil candidates applying for Pandit, Granthi, Padri, and Maulvi (Sunni) categories are required to apply Online.
Civil candidates applying for Pandit (Gorkha), Maulvi (Shia) and Bodh Monk categories should send their Application in the Prescribed Format to respective Headquarter Recruiting Zones/ concerned Regimental Centres, on or before 20/11/2019. For more details please see the Official Advt.

Upon successful submission of online application form, the system generated Registration/ Acknowledgement Slip will appear on the computer screen. Candidates must print-out it for future correspondence. DO NOT SEND ANY PRINT-OUT/HARD COPY OR DOCUMENTS TO INDIAN ARMY AT THIS STAGE. All the verification will be done in due course.
