For Central Public Works Department and Military Engineering Services’ recruitments of few hundred posts in Civil Engineer (Electrical and Civil) is going on. Candidates with Diploma in Civil/Mechanical or Electrical Engineer can apply for the post.  Job will be on Group- B Non-Gazetted Officer. More details have been mentioned below.

Name of Post: Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical)

No. of Vacancies:  Few hundred (exact nos. not declared)

Qualification: candidates with Diploma in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineer from any recognized institute can apply for the post.

Age Limit: Should be between 18 to 27 years i.e. taken birth date should be between 1-2-1984 to 31-1-1993. (Relaxable age for OBC: 3yrs; SC/ST: 5yrs; PH: 10yrs; Ex-serviceman: as per govt. norms) Legally divorced women not re-married should receive 8yrs in case of Gen and 11yrs for OBC & 13 yrs for scheduled candidates.

Pay Scale: Rs. 9300-34800 Per month, Grade Pay: Rs. 4200
Candidates should be physically and mentally fit and so doctor’s examination will be after written examination.

Selection Procedure:  Selection of candidates will be carried by Staff Selection Commission through 2011 Junior Engineering (Civil & Electrical) Examination.
Written examination will be held on 27th March on all India. Written exams of 500 marks will be held on two papers. First paper will of 2hours and will be Objective Multiple Type Choice on following topics: (I) General Intelligence and Reasoning of 50 marks. (II) General Awareness of 50 marks (III) General Engineering (Civil and Structural)/ General Engineering (Electrical and Mechanical) of 100 marks.
Second paper will be of 2 hours of 300 marks and will be Descriptive Types questions on stream of General Engineering (Civil and Structural/Electrical and Mechanical). Questions will be on following topics (I) Civil: Building material, Surveying, Soil Mechanic, Hydraulics, and Environmental Engineering. (II) Structural: Theory of Structural, Concrete Technology, R.C.C. Design, Steel Design. (III) Electrical: Basic Electrical Engineering and Electrical Measurement, Circuit Law, A.C. Fundamental, Measurement and Measuring Instrument, Electrical Machine, 1 and 3 phase Transformer, Synchronize Machines, 3 phase Induction Motor, General Transmission and Distribution System, Utilization of Electrical Energy, (IV) Mechanical Engineering: Flow of fluids, Thermal Engineering, Production Engineering, Descriptions, Principles of Working, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines.

Candidates who qualify in first paper will be allowed to sit in Second paper. Selected candidates will be call for Interview which will be of 100 marks.

How to Apply: Submission of application can be done through two different ways (1) Offline and (2) Online.
Candidates opting for Offline (Postal method) submission will have to prepare application form according to the given format (given below) on full scope paper. Along with application form candidate should enclose the following documents:

  • Recent passport size photograph affixed on application form.
  • Central recruitment fee of Rs. 100, stamp will be available on post office. After affixing the stamp on application form make stamp-cancellation from the clerk of the post office. Women, SC/ST and Ex-Serviceman candidates will not require fee.

Do not send more than one application; doing such will cause cancellation of all application form you have submitted.

Last Date of Application: Application should reach within 31 Jan-2011, for candidates from North Eastern Zone along with Tripura and Andaman Nicobar; should reach within 7th Feb-2011.

Candidates opting for form submission through Online should visit Official website where they will have to register for Part-1 and then should proceed to Part-2 Registration. In part-2 registration candidates will have to provide scan signature and photograph in JPG format and fee details. Candidates can pay fee through online system or can opt for paying through State Bank of India. For paying through S.B.I. candidates should print-out payment challan from website right after Part-1 registration. More details can be found on the website itself.  Finally after completing submission of online form make print out of the system generated application. Do not send this anywhere through post, keep it with you.

Admit card will be dispatch to the candidates’ right from 3-4 weeks before the date of written examination.
